Primed and pre-shaded - not a fan of this technique but I’ll see if it makes a difference in this scale.

First coat of grey applied after first drawing the outline in pencil and masking the fin tip which I painted black when doing the pre-shade - 617 jets have their squadron markings here.

Ooo it's always nice to get some paint on isn't it Rick. Looking good so far I'm slowly catching you up with my build.

It’s fair to say that I really do not like wrap around camouflage. I only went and masked up the areas I didn’t want to paint on one of the tailerons, luckily I spotted my error just as I was about to pull the trigger on my airbrush.

Hi Rick
Masking looks good. Very time consuming. I always worry about the unmasking - how much bleed have I got :worried: Looking at yours I would bet on it being fine :thumb2:

The unmasking is always a mix of eager anticipation and anxious bricking it.

Unwrapped this afternoon. Just one area where paint came away with the tape and a few areas where I put the white tack over areas with not enough grey paint coverage - easily fixed.

I hate masking. All the bare metal areas like the jetpipes, gun ports and fin heat shield; the LG bays, intakes, radome, wingtips and RWR fairings are ready for a coat of paint.

All those masked areas have had a spray and are drying. The radome and wingtips in black; the intakes in white; the exhausts in AK Jet Exhaust metallic; the RWR is a 50:50 mix of Sand Yellow and Interior green and the gear bays in light grey.
