Scale Model Shop

scotties pioneer.

I would find it hard to say anything that has not been said this is just such a great build. Do you have any dirt left in your garden?;)

Andy.

Im so enthralled by this that I've just been back for another look....I know a lot of vehicle modellers always say they don't know how us (mainly) figure modellers do what we do but I have to say that the same applies for me in reverse... I just don't know how to do a vehicle up to this standard!!!!
Jason.

Looks good Paul, weathering is just right, nothing to improve. Paul E does have a point, the crank handle on the crane looks like it would catch on the cable, but it's probably just the way it looks in the photo.

Graeme, thank you mate. In this case I think it is the camera angle. But looking at it the handle it does get close especially when the cable is on the left hand side of the drum.

This is a very nice project full of your usual skillful additions. The weathering is looking very effective. You did ask for suggestions so here is mine, ignore completely if you fancy. When you are painting chips on metal you can make the chips have a more 3 dimensional look by painting the area in a pale version of the basic colour. You then fill in the middle of the pale chip with the dark grey that you are currently using but leave a tiny line of the pale colour showing around the edges. Then if you are going for a more aged look you can cover the chip with a light wash of dark rust colour.
Like I say this is really only gilding the lilly as far as this build is concerned so feel free to ignore.

Hi John, Thank you mate for the kind words. Your right about the scratches and I thank you for the pointer that is a good idea.

Thanks to everyone for the support and very kind comments along the way. Any future pictures will appear in the completed section.

Fantastic finish. Weathering is understated and realist. This suits the extra detail down to the ground because it enhances the build rather than becoming the focal point....

Excellent work. Love the fenders turning w/wheels. A feature not always shown. PaulE

Hi Paul totally mind blowing so much to look at, a work of art very well done indeed :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: .
