Hi everyone
I have just received this email from Simon's sisters. I think it says it all.

Hi Jim

Just been catching up with the thread so thought I’d drop you a message - thanks to you and to everyone who took part in the group build. What a lovely tribute.

Thanks too for recommending Models for Heroes for Si’s stash - they’re going to have all his unopened models, books, tools etc which we’re really pleased about.

Sal and Jo

I think our little group has done the memory of our friend proud, he deserved no less. Thanks and well done to you all.

Great to hear that jim , simon would have approved of the models for heroes donation for sure , cheers tony

That's good news Jim. Mr T would have been over the moon to have known all his modelling gear had gone to such a great cause. Many thanks for the update

Thank you Jim, glad that SImons sisters have been able to see what has been done.

Thank you Jim.

I hope his models can be the cause of happiness to others that it brought to him.

Awesome,a fitting tribute to a TOP man,

A few years ago, I think it was when Models for Heroes were just getting off the ground, they appealed for kits for the veterans. Simon went into his loft immediately and sent off a parcel so I know it was an enterprise he supported. Quite a few modellers on the forum have a military background or military connections and so Models for Heroes is very appropriate as a home for Simon's vast amount of loft insulation.
If you haven't heard of the project take a look - so very worthwhile. MODELS FOR HEROES

Received this email this morning from Simon's sisters

Hi Jim

Thanks again for the recommendation. Models for Heroes collected the stash yesterday- entirely filled a transit van!

Hope you’re keeping well

Sal and Jo

Although I am sure we all still miss our friend the fact that his stash has gone to such a worthy charity means that some good has been done. I knew Simon's stash was large. I think on the old forum there was a thread to post photos of peoples stashes and his looked like a well stocked model shop!! A transit van is not small!!! :rolling:

Jim

That’s a good place for it to go. I’m sure Simon would have approved. Got to smile though, it’s an enormous stash and I wonder how he thought it would all get built, especially as Simon only ever used a kit as a vague starting point for his finescale building style..

Great news...at least they will enjoy building the kits whole. They will be bewildered if told that Simon only needed less than half of the box contents to make a kit. :smiling2:

Cheers,
Richard
