Spots on the Internet (2021)

On the Zvezda Facebook page - 'on release soon'

Remember the days when 283 would be a respectable parts count for a 1/35 model?
Dave

I don't usually post anything from AFV Club, their Facebook pages & website are so bad that it's difficult to see what is new - however I think these may be their latest releases!

I think these two are variants of earlier models.................

From Airfix - 'available to order'

Airfix' own new tooling, 2021 - welcome to see! From a quick unboxing vid on YouTube, looks good - choice of vinyl, or link & length tracks. Price point on the Airfix website is £29.99 - good for a new 1/35 model!

ADD - I posted this before I saw Papa's entry in 'Latest Acquisitions' ....................

On the ICM website - 'in process' their first helicopter, AH-1G Cobra in 1/32..................

You'll need a bit of space to display that, although a twin blade rotor helps................
Dave

I wonder if they also include the more standard style of chin turret, or only the very early one shown in these renderings.

According to the ICM website they plan a late production version and a Vietnam version Later in the year.

Ah, I didn’t realise that :) (Though it makes me wonder why model kit manufacturers seem to have picked up this annoying habit of not including minor parts for multiple versions anymore.)

Cynical me is thinking more sales....

That’s what I thought at first too, but does that matter? Not really, I think: if I want an early and a late AH-1G in 1:32, I’ll buy two kits, regardless of whether they have a kit of the early version and a kit of the late one, or one kit that lets you build either.

Giving the option in one kit is better because this means the purchasers aren’t dependent on tracking down the exact version they want to build. With this particular kit, if I want a late AH-1G, then right now I’ll have to wait longer for that to come out; and when both have been released, chances are that when I want to buy the late version, I’ll go to a (web)shop that only has the early one in stock.

It could be an internal accountancy thing, whereby the research and development engenders three items in the product line rather than just one. It also keeps the company in the “new releases” column, making them seem more active than they really are.

Not one I'd want in the house, thanks Jakko :smiling3:
