Now that should work old lad! I would think to get the right scale the needles will have to abut one and other..

I would have a try myself, but sweety pie and me are off for a few days on a Sh*****gs cheapo coach trip with the 'Blue Rinse Brigade to Ilfracombe, Nth. Devon tomorrow, so I look forward to reading your test report on my return.

Good luck Colin, could be the ideal solution and thanks for posting....

Cheers,

Ron

Haha Ron, dont forget your knotted hanky, kaggy shorts. whilte knee lentght socks and bible kreepers hehe.

Cheers Andy, got back last night.....Sorry mate, I bought you a stick of rock, but I left it on the coach!

Colin, how did your 1/72 tin corrugation experiment go? Any good?

Cheers,

Ron

well i'm afraid, to my shame, i haven't been anywhere near the plastic all weekend ... i had the "fossil" bug manifest itself and needed to get out and about with me little trowel and brushes.

I've managed to pop on here the odd time using the phone but thats it ...

i shall take a ten biscuit dock in pay for my actions :)

No problem Colin, I hope the 'outbreak' has been contained.

I presume your biscuit is the gorgeous, made in Scotland 'Tunnock's Caramel' wot I have just scoffed as I type this....(Other biscuits are available!)

I might have a play with your tin method soon, but there's plenty of things to do to occupy my time with this dio.

Cheers,

Ron

got to be the plain one ron, not the other one, that caramal bar looks like its been rolled in sawdust and the bits get stuck in me teeth.

the out break resulted in finding some mosasaur, plesiosaur and 50,000 year old sand shark teeth and vertebrae mate .... well chuffed.

anyway I digress from your wonderful build .. so ill shut up.

Andrew, surely you've got things wrong....The caramel bicky is bootiful, covered in chocolate and all!!

Thanks John, glad you like it thus far matey.....

Colin, good result!!

Right, here's a quick update:-

Two things....

One, I've done the ground cover. I do this by carefully spreading diluted PVA just where I want the 'Dust' to stick. However, don't be too fussy about the sticky creeping up the base of the walls, this gives a nice 'Muck up the walls' effect. Then I simply sprinkle the sweepings I've collected, over the PVA, then turn the model upside down over a piece of paper...Where it's stuck it stays, where it isn't, it falls onto the paper...Job done! Because it's a natural colour, the ground doesn't need painting.

Two, I've done most of the work on the damaged building. This is just scraps of stirrer, polystyrene, cotton and hardened floor adhesive semi-crushed, all finished off with a good coating of dust.

Bit of a tip regarding damaged buildings. Initially, I always make the four sides of the building complete, and with the full amount of roof tiles, then create the damage. This ensures the right amount of rubble/tiles are strewn about......Sounds arse about face, but so often I see trashed buildings with just a scattering of rubble and they just don't look right somehow. Doing it the above way gives you a better chance of getting the proportion between the damage and rubble something like...I realise it's different with Miniart buildings, but I think it's still worth while making loads of matching rubble when using these kits.

I will probably add some more bits to the damage, I'll see how it looks after a fresh blimp later on.

That's it for this stage. I hope you like it so far and thanks for looking in chaps.

Just realised after seeing the pictures, I've forgot to darken the diddy garden wall!

Cheers,

Ron

Looks amazing ron mate, I agree with you about the rubble on pre made buildings , ive often thought it looked a bit odd , yours is spot on. One further thing - I second your motion on the Tunnocks caramel wafer (chocolate covered , of course) they are the perros cojones of choccy biccys!!! cheers tony

I`ve been looking in on this from the start but I haven`t commented as every one else has said what I was going to say, but I couldn`t hold back any longer.

The work you are doing on it is superb, the last close-ups you posted could be taken for pictures of the real thing.

This is some of the best work I`ve had the pleasure to see in this scale.

Absolutely fantastic.

Malc.

Very effective and, of course, you are right about moulded 'ruble' on moulded buildings such as Mini Art. You do tend to get a few blobs roughly brick shaped but as with any ruined building, the devil is in the detail and no matter how good the kit, you still have to rubble it up (?) and do the groundwork but having this masterclass online even I am running out of excuses for not doing it :abouttime:

That is if I get the chance before the dogs eat it!!!!!!!! (still a sore point you may have guessed)

Fantastic result Ron. Shame about the rock on the coach, perhaps next time eh.

Cheers

Thanks ever so much for the great comments boys....Fair warms the coccles of me 'art it do!

I note your comments on 'ready made' buildings. In their defence, as we have seen on here, they do make up into fantastic damaged buildings, it's just that without loads of rubble, they look kind'a unfinished. I realise that there are obvious constraints where production is concerned, but I'm sure the manufacturers could include a small bag of rubble and bits, or indeed make your own. It would make all the difference to the finished piece.

O.K., a small update for you.....

Last night I sat back and had a 'Boddington's moment' I was looking at the damaged building. I knew something didn't look right. Viewing it as a whole it occured to me I was cheating......Take a look at the previous pickies of this building, the damage and fire are confined to one half, so I reasoned the other half would be relatively untouched, so why are the windows and shutters missing? I was being lazy, simple as!

So I have added a window, cut from one piece of thin plastic card and shirt stiffener for glass. I've omitted one pane for fun! Then I dampened the clear plastic and sprinkled a tiny bit of dry grey powder onto it to give a dusty effect to the glass. The shutters are made in the same way as shown previously. Saves making more windows!!

I've also made a pile of logs out of bits of small twigs from the garden, stuck to a piece of card and then glued to the base.

That's it for now...I hear we can expect 10 degrees tomorrow, so I'm off to root out my Bermuda shorts!!!!!

Cheers all,

Ron

I'm still lost for any decent words Sir, except for WOW...

:respect:

As for the missing windows etc, they may have been stolen seeing as it could be abandoned...:winkingshades:

Thanks for the posts fellas, very nice reading....

Andy2035, I've already used that excuse for the missing windows when I did my derelict farm building for the Sniper G.B., so I daren't use it again!!

Cheers,

Ron
