Steve's 1/32 Revell Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc

Today have been working on the undercarriage. They went together very well and had a couple of very small parts to fit.

Also had two sessions with the decals. I put the majority of the main fuzz decals on. The decals were excellent and went on without any issues whatsoever. The Spifire I am building will be in the markings of MJ832 "City Of Oshawa" flown by F/Lt Sten Torkelson Lunberg in The Canadian Air Force 416 Squadron. The aircraft was abandoned in France after crash landing after suffering severe flak damage and Sten was taken POW. Here are a few pictures of where I am at. Still more decals to go on.

I have to say that I have really grown to love the MkIXc Spitfire. I am not surprised that with its two stage blower supercharged engine, larger 4 bladed prop and Merlin 61 engine not to mention the armament upgrades that it was regarded by the pilots as the best Spitfire of all the variants. Thanks for checking in

Decals are now competed. I have left several of the tiny ones off the model. I had a problem with one of the wing decals trying to get it to sit nicely over a raised wing bump. Its had more pins poked through it than soft Mick and is now on its 8th Micro Sol covering.

And I am now staring work on the bomb fixings

Prop and spinner also glued up and ready to fit. There are some small red dot decals to go on each blade to complete the propellor.

All looking very nice. It's always a proud moment for a modeller when a build stands on its own three wheels for the first time.

Now that the canopy has bee masked and painted I can get on with adding the bomb carriers and bombs together with the flaps which I will display in the down position albeit this would not normally be something you would see in a parked aircraft.

I am using a clear PVA to attach the bombs and flaps as I don't want a painting disaster at this late stage. Apart from the wing canons and aerial she is just about finished. The only question now is whether to add some chipping to the inspection hatches and cowling or leave it as it is. Decisions decisions. I might take some pictures of it as a clean aircraft before I dive in with the chipping just in case it goes south. Next pictures will be the finished model. Thanks for checking in.
