Talk about in at the deep end. But anyway, from what I've seen, it all looks really good.

Thank you Dave and Colin... I did some You Tube watching for painting techniques, which I find quite OK as by profession I was an Art teacher for my sins, but the detail of construction has amazed me! Mind you, so has Tamiya's fit and finish. I've made several mistakes and had some breakages, but generally am pleased at how it's looking (some of the stuff on the internet is astonishing...I'll never be that good), but for enjoyment, and escaping for an hour or so each day, modelling gets top marks:)

Cracking good work John. (Another John! And another art teacher.)

Welcome to the forum and Happy New Year.

Tamiya chose Mosquito, serial number HX 922/EG-F for one of the build options (you get three, all with varied schemes and instructions) so I thought I’d check out who she was.

HX922 was, as part of the RNZAF 487 squadron, sent to be part of No140 Wing, based at Hunsdon for operation Jericho. There’s lots on the operation if you ‘Google it’.

The Pilot of HX 922 was also the officer I/C the operation in the air. He, Group Captain Percy Charles Pickard, and his Nav, RNZAF Flt Lt John Alan Broadley took off from Hunsdon on 18th Feb 1944. As far as I can find out, Pickard led the bombing attack, made his run, and then circled, co-coordinating the attack until all that could had delivered their bombs. As he turned for home, hits from a FW190 severed the tail of HX922 and she crashed. Both officers were killed.

There are several pics of Pickard and Broadley on the web; I enclose one such.

Stories like these do make a decent build worthwhile to me, just as a memory to the brave men involved.

Wow john, I have to say the Tamiya kit is a lot more detailed than the reveal one I'm doing.

Cheers Andrew

Wow...thank you all very much. I look at You Tube and am amazed (not yet looked around HERE at pics...must make the time) at the quality odf painting.

I'm not an airbriush fan...it's far too crude for detail and anyway, a brush in hand (is there a proverb here somewhere :) )...So I'm very encouraged that you experienced lot think it's good.

Thank you all very much.

Goodness me John, that is superb work indeed. BTW the date of Operation Jericho was 18 February 1944.

Thank you flyjoe...and for the typo spotting! I changed it now, thanks again.

last few days work. Belly guns and attaching the fuselage to the wings...which was such a great snap fit that I used no glue at all. Brilliant Tamiya!

May have suffered a bit from excessive matt varnish on the fuel tanks and other places...dried to a nasty matt white powdery mess.grrrr.

Anway...some snaps.
