The vintage airfix gb is officially 'times up'.....dont know if theres any stragglers still to finish?

When i proposed it it just seemed like a good idea at the time but its surprised me how many took part.....its been great seeing all the different stuff get build

id just like to thank everyone who joined in and made it a great success

Thanks for setting it up Paul. Lots of variation, and a most enjoyable GB to watch and participate in.

I'm one of the 'stragglers'; my Lancaster is still waiting for replacement decals to arrive. I'll be sure to complete it ASAP once the decals turn up.

I'm a straggler with my DH88 Comet, sorry.
But having been fortunate enough to spend my entire working life making models to deadlines, some of them utterly ridiculous, I hope you'll forgive me for being a bit relaxed about GBs.
It's great idea though, well done for suggesting it

I'm definitely a straggler Paul. Life has just got so busy and I haven't modelled for ages. It's not going to get better for a few months as our house of full of my wife's relatives coming over from Oz for most of the summer.

Thanks for organising it though. I do plan on completing my model and will update my posts when I do.

Guys.....theres no hurry........its always been forum gb 'rules' that they have start and end dates just to keep the calendar tidy but the finish date has always been a bit relaxed........so you guys take your time to finish off

I think this gb has been great for lots of reasons.......the going back in time and remembering these kits as a kid.......the joy of building a simple kit......the challenge of taking some ancient nadgery old kit and turning it into something presentable

Thanx for suggesting this GB Pual, it was my first GB, so was a bit nervous, but enjoyed it immensely, so much that I ended up doing two, HMS Fearless and the Arado AR196 Float plane, and enjoyed them both, so thanx again.
It is very interesting to see how people interpret each GB with so many variations on the same theme, I have learnt a lot (as always) just watching what other people do.
Cheers

Glad you enjoyed yourself

I was once active on 3 forums....all had gbs running all different.....i enjoyed gbs so much i used to join in as many as i could but after a while i stopped it cos i realised i was just building for gbs and not for myself.....nowadays its easy cos i only visit here

Ive always said gbs are a great way to bring a forum togethet

Great GB Paul, only wished I could have joined as I always loved Airfix even with its bad fits. Brings back memories of the old ones that I'd like to someday build again but stuck with many dioramas in the pipeline so to speak. Kudos to those who have made the finish line...for the stragglers, well, enjoy the finish at leisure.

Cheers,
Wabble

Thanks for suggesting this paul , it was a gb right up my street - taking an old kit and wrestling it into shape . I think everyone enjoyed it and hopefully it has shown that you shouldnt dismiss a kit just because its old , they can still turn out great , cheers tony
