Just catching up Andy, splendid work so far. Engine, cockpit and pilot all look great😊

I was intrigued by the box art, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the kit subject portrayed as the aircraft being shot down 🤔

Geoff.
Thanks very much Geoff, much appreciated 😊,
Now that you mention it I can't recall one either.... certainly an interesting
promotional pitch,I do rather like it 👍

Looking very good there Andy. Excellent work bud. Strikes me that there would be scope for kits that depict just this bit of the aircraft in a larger than usual scale. A bit like the current trend for ship parts………
Hi Tim, thanks for that mate 😊,
Yep, I think that would be a good seller....things like "Wedgies" and nose art
Kits, such as the recent Lancaster one, seems to sell well,so maybe it's
just a matter of time until someone hijacks your idea!!🤣🤣

Neither do I Geoff. I seem to remember both Airfix Lancaster and Flying Fortress original art had engine fires, but don’t recall box art where someone is actually bailing out..
Hi Tim,(again!!😂),
No, I don't think I've ever seen it before either,as you say, there have been
a few with fires and badly damaged airframes, but actually bailing out?...
.... Nah!!

Theres a few Tim , Eduard did a couple of instrument panels in 1/4 scale ( bf109 , bf110) which at that scale makes them about 20 cm wide . ESCI did a couple of 1/12 jet cockpits too ( f104 , f16 ) which I think have been reboxed by Italeri

Ok then Chaps,
A cheeky update on our fly boy....
1000012305.webp
..... The side which will be less looked at there, and now him seated in position,in one side of the fuselage......
1000012346.webp
.......
1000012347.webp
..... Quite pleased so far I must admit, was nervous about putting it all together, but shouldn't have
worried because the fit is excellent 👍,
Cheers for now,as always, thanks for looking in 😎.

Great work. I do like a nice engine. But that pilot. If you had asked me to guess his nationality, I would have said German. Can he look anymore German ?

Thanks Colin, yes,I know what you mean..... There's no mistaking him
for anything but a "Fritzy"!!😁

Ok then Chaps,I trust you are all well 👍, A brief update to report.......
..... I had a look at using the clear engine covers......
1000012482.webp
..... but,Nah.... I don't like it, just looks messy to me,so closed up it shall be!😔
..... Here's the other side of the fuselage fitted,(and a great fit it is too!)....
1000012486.webp
..... Caused myself two problems here, firstly it's going to be a nightmare masking his
arm off,but doable, secondly though, with his other arm being slightly too high, the front
canopy won't fit on😱!! So.....
1000012539.webp
.... Off it came, I'll wait until the canopy is on and then refit his arm so it hangs
nicely over the fuselage,(the obvious thing to do would be to fit him in afterwards,
but you can't as it's too narrow to get his legs in with both sides together)......
1000012538.webp
..... So that's it up to now, I've started on the wings and associated stuff as you can
see her.... Strange,I have the box room as a modelling room, yet somehow I've ended
up with only about a square foot of bench to actually work in!!🤔😮😱🤣
Anyway, that's it for now,as always, thanks for looking in,
Cheers for now......m

Ah yes the old one square foot conundrum . I suffer with that too andy ,it gets so bad that I cant find any space to put anything down at all , thats the cue for a tidy up -then the encroachment starts again , its a non stop cycle !

Looking good Andy. Funny about the old square foot bench though. I too have a decent sized spare room, with both a build bench and a paint bench. Almost everything is wall hung to give maximum real estate, but there’s usually only about a square foot to use on both of ‘em 😂

Sorry to see you had to butcher the poor pilot's arm off, but I'm sure you'll get things sorted in a later stage (y) The bench looks tidy indeed 😅 have fun

Looking good. Your bench looks nicely set up, it never seems to matter what size it is, like the others I share your square foot issue
