OK that went tits up quickly. Shall we try again.

I have observed and subsequently been contacted by a couple of members via PM that there has been a sudden surge in SOME members. both new, not so new and old, have been pounding away on the like button on just about every post they have seen/read. A good few of the posts years old and from people that are no longer members.
Some on posts that was just a simple "nice" from another member THREE YEARS after the event and on a dead account!

It is this kind of use of the like button I was trying to curb.

So can we all just let it lie and get on with building something.

Bingo...definitely. :smiling3:

Cheers,
Richard

'Liked' ;)
Far better the written word - or two.

I suppose the problem lies in the tons of builds flying through these pages each day, and members feel a simple 'Like' is better than just glancing at a build and moving on to the next, and so on......

Oops apologies, I'm sure I'm guilty!
There's so much good stuff old and new to enjoy I fear my screen finger gets the better of me.
Cheers.

Should never started this crap up in the first place we’ve hashed this subject out before leave sleeping dogs lie now that it’s over let’s go build models

be nice to get back to modelling if the problem had gone away!.....seems people dont listen cos i just logged into a set of stupid waste of time 'like' notifications

serious question.......if i put people on ignore does it mean they cant see my posts? (and therefore cant 'like')..........or does it mean i cant see their posts?

Perhaps it would be a good idea if Admin. remove all six of the like, love, haha's etc. completely and forever. ;) ;)

...and ban Christmas!

i think he meant 6 buttons....not 6 people lol

i have no problem with the like button.......if its used to like things!......not as a way of book marking where you have read or pushing up your 'like' tally

the last time all the buttons were removed there was an uproar......and quite rightly so i think.......they serve a purpose, when you dont have time to make a comment but still want to show appreciation

It normally means you can’t see their posts — the idea behind this kind of feature is that you’ve gotten so fed up with a person(’s posts) that you don’t want to see anything more from them.

I've just had a three year old post 'liked' I don't really see the point in that.

Since I am totally new here I want to make sure I understand it properly.

What is the problem with people pressing "like"?

Does it affect anything negatively in any way?

It is just expressing that someone likes something he read so what is the harm?

Please help me understand. Thank you!

Answers in order as I see them….
No problem…….no, it affects nothing of any importance……..no harm, that’s exactly what it is there for.
This thread was raised because it appears some people were using the like button as a place holder so they knew where they were in the thread. Not seen it myself, and don’t understand the issue. After all, who doesn’t want to be liked ;)

Thank you .... and I gave you a "like" :smiling5:

It's this kind of BS that has put me off this forum. Why have the functionality if you don't want it to be used? Why so intent on controlling how and why the forum is used? Why are some topics ok and others not?

Instead of addressing everyone, just take it up with the individuals. Admin laziness in my opinion. Protectionism of a minority core.
