As I get older, I seem to be more affected by the heat! As the temperature has hit 30C for the third day running, I find that my desire for any benchtime has dropped off to zero, and the limit of my exertions is getting more ice cubes out of the freezer.
It wasn't always like this, in my 20s-30s I spent a lot of time working in the tropics for months at a time - I think one day of that would now kill me!

Me too Dave, i have always struggled with hot days but having ME seems to have helped!!

It still affects me but do not feel so hot and especially at night. But still sitting in front of fridge with head in freezer compartment lol.

My cats are really struggling:sad:

Same here Dave,

Temps into the 30s and all you do is sweat. Can't wear the optivisor and the Mojo is dead. Fan doesn't help either.....

Ahhhh, to be 30 years younger.........................

One of the perks of being an owl instead of a lark. I can quite happily stay up all night so it's cooler and sleep during the day. OK, it can be hard to sleep if it's hot, but I've noticed if I'm really, really tired, I fall asleep before I notice I'm uncomfortable with the heat. If the heat wakes me up after a couple of hours, I'll get up and find summat to do until I'm tired again, then back to bed - whatever time it is or however few hours I've been awake.

Aaahhh! The perks of being single and retired!

Lucky you Dave,

Single, yes....Retired, in 1 year......

I even tried this and it didn't help.........

Ah the joys of times like these of living in northern Scotland. Mid-twenties i think at max and some cloud cover too. I don't do heat. The gulf put pay to that for me. I'm a temperate climate guy who actually prefers temps from mid-teens to early twenties. We even had rain yesterday which helped cool things down :)

Where I am ( Cyprus ) 30 degrees is the average nighttime, go to bed temperature a the moment. Daytime it gets warmer !!

I've been in 38 degrees in Sydney and didn't break sweat. No doubt the heat on the skin was noticeably burning but with the right shades and clothing wasn't too bad.
But here in the tropics yesterday only at 34 degrees and its like you're in a pressure cooker or sauna. Hot sticky sweat just pours from every pore. And yes lately I'm starting to feel the heat and sweat even in the shade.

Cheers,
Richard

Last I was in cyprus even the locals were complaining about the heat.......

When I migrated to the UK from Australia 6 years back I thought I'd left the heat behind. Little did I know that I've brought it with me. What happened to traditional English weather? :upside:

Beautiful 27degrees in Jersey all day. Flat faces north lost the sun 11:00am cucumber cool.

Last night 1:00 the rain fell as stair rod temperature fell & we had a north breeze straight into our flat windows.

It is heaven.

Making me envious Laurie!!,Sure wish i was back in Belle Jersey this summer. All being well we shall be there next July/August.Then we can pop and see you!!.
Take care.

Look forward to that Richard cannot guarantee the weather but can guarantee a good welcome.

Plus Jersey Royals Potatoes are still being dug & they are superb. Just rub your thumb over the potatoe & the thin skin disappears leaving it scrapped retaining all the flavour.

I should be in Cyprus now, but had to cancel because of Covid 19. :(

Instead I'm decorating my daughter's bedroom. Over the last 4 days I've stripped the walls, papered and painted. Still have wooden flooring to lay, and beds and cupboards to build. All in this heat.

That's what dads are for Bob. I've two , both married now with hands on husbands, did fit a kitchen for one before I retired.

I do not mind the heat as a rule but it warms up my loft to unbearable temps so I get no building done.

Andy.

We here too are having a rather hot and muggy summer, but central air conditioning keeps the whole house nice and frosty
vehicles all have a.c. and even though working in the woods, they are for the most part shady and cool.

Outdoor humidity levels can be a pain for me with my COPD and all, but I pace myself and choose my battles.
At night temps drop drastically here in the mountains so all in all things are quite tolerable, even for me.

As far as the young-uns are concerned, nothing seems to adversely affect them, whether it be sub-zero F
or scorching heat.....ahhh..to be young...:relieved:

Indeed. After four days spannering motorcycles in what's meant to be my 'winding down to retirement' job, I'm totally knackered. It's been almost a chore to tog up and go out on road test. And what will I most likely be doing tomorrow.... tinkering with my own....

The recent run of heat has me stripping insulation from the 2 sun catching walls and roof of my shed so I can add air gaps and radiant barriers.

I can put up with the heat all day as long as I can sleep at night. Usually the fan beside my bed does the trick but this week I decided to buy an air conditioning unit from B&Q. ITS A 9000btu which meant nothing to me but it cools a large room down to a point you could put your jumper back on. Its probably a lot of money to pay (£195) for the few days we get above 25 degrees but Having used it the last few days it already feels worth it.
