What was the problem with the diamond T. I've been after one of those for a while
Well, I don't know if I had an early release (bought on eBay) but I put in a few weeks, and that just about got the chassis done. Every part, and I mean EVERY part put up enormous resistance to being removed from the sprue, demanded extensive clean-up, (and I'm not exaggerating when I say 10-15 minutes on each tiny part, well, those that didn't break) and then didn't fit properly. Quite a few cross members on the chassis were meant to fit into recesses int the chassis - they didn't, well, not without some brutal trimming, which often ruined the much-vaunted surface detail. Sprue gates were massive, and many were in ridiculous placing, and were often very tricky to clean off. The instructions were sketchy, and the styrene shiny and brittle. By the time I'd got the chassis mostly done, I felt like I had an unassailable task ahead of me, so I put it all back in the box for "another day".
I love building models, but as long as there are beautifully made kits out there, I don't really need this - I don't mind a bit of flash, and a few ejector pins to clean up, but I still have no idea at all, how I'd ever get the steering wheel off the sprue on this kit, this kit is for enthusiasts only, and ones with a lot of patience and skill. As I mentioned earlier, maybe they sorted these problems out before selling all the duff ones to eBay shop owners, but it's beyond me!
Edited to add:
if you haven't already built a Tamiya Deuce and a Half, I'd get one of those, beautiful build of a lovely truck with lots of scope for modification!
