Hi all,
Some of you may have read under my “surrender” thread that whilst waiting for a replacement part I decided to make a start on a 1/16 U Boat captain that I’ve had in the stash for some time.
This kind of breaks my personal rule of not starting another build until one is finished but it’s not a hard and fast rule after all.... anyway here’s progress to date from over the weekend..

The slightly strange stance is because he is resting on a periscope and whilst I’ve managed to find the image that the model is based on I’m struggling with a colour pic of the periscope to base the painting on...

anyway... thats it for now
Thanks for looking in!

This is the basis of the model but as it’s black and white I would be grateful if anybody has a colour picture f this type of control for the periscope....

Jason

Outstanding work and he's even slightly reminiscent of the captain in Das Boot.

Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Thanks Andrew... any resemblence is more out of luck than anything else!
Great face on that chap, beard in particular is really nice...
Thanks Tim... I tried not to make him too grey ( I was using my own face fuzz as a model!)

Thanks Bortig ( Mark) that's just what I was looking for... Thanks again!

Cheers
Jason.

I am in absolute disbelief at the realism you have captured in his face! The eyes are fantastic!!!

Thanks Jack and Thanks Steve... it really is very much appreciated!
... anyway, still waiting for my replacement part for the “Surrender” build so on with “the old Man”.... or should I say the bottom half of the old man?

I picked out a base from my charity shop hunting trips and although the figure has a plastic “floor” it was a bit of a dull square so a bit of sanding and filling was required to get it to fit to size...
That’s it for now but once again thanks for looking in!

does anybody know if the base he’s resting his right leg on should have a lid...there wasn’t one supplied but it appears to have one in the image posted by Bortig in post #7?
Thanks
Jason
