What's on the Bench? 2021

Hi there "City Slicker".......I can understand your situation now. I drive on the stuff from late November to sometimes mid April. Most of the time the highway is plowed but not always. I run steel studded snow tires on my Dodge 4X4 and most of the time I keep the trans locked up in 4 Hi. Helps a lot....especially if you happen to run into what we call "Black" Ice, nasty stuff. Rick H.

Not even sure we can buy snow tires in the UK…..we might get half a dozen days a year like that, sometimes none at all…..get a fair bit of black ice though, especially in the ungritted areas off the main routes….

Looks good Andrea, and looks like you have moved in at last ?
No, John, I'm still commuting but now I try to get a couple of hours at the bench at least 2 times per week...
We're still waiting for the electrician to complete the garage door motorization (I should have bought an old Tamiya garage door, instead... :tongue-out3: ) then it's time for a new heather (the old one is a clear and present danger to the climate :face-with-thermometer: and to our wallets :money-face:). Our plan is to move there next spring.
In the meantime here are the (few) progresses: turret completed and primed.

Next is the upper hull, but I'm waiting for the CA glue to dry. I used it to fill in some small ejection marks in the rear-view mirrors (this too a first test: usually Tamiya putty is my choice, but those marks are so small that I thought to take a chance with CA).
Thank you for your interest.

Andrea

I'm old & grew up in Buffalo NY so I remember the rumble of snow chains & the later rattle of studs. My dad didn't think they were worth the trouble, but kept a set of what he called mudhooks in his wagon and his trucks just in case. These were much easier to install, took about a minute a wheel & were very effective. Snow tires were a must.

We can certainly get winter tyres Tim.
Pete

Sure Pete, you are correct. I worded that badly. We can buy them, but studded winter tyres are illegal for use on road in the UK.

Studs are illegal in many states here as they tore up the roads. Sure worked good on ice though.

Back in the Frostgrave furrow here…..all still works in progress….

Not much done here, progressing slowly.

I dont think these are quite up to my usual standards, but my hands have been a bit stiff recently and that doesn’t help….still, progress is progress….

As always any comments, questions etc are welcome…..

Very nice Tim, full of colour and great painting detail , more so considering their size

Your usual Jaw Dropping stuff on display there Tim:dizzy:!!!
The quality of your teeny weeny figures just never ceases to amaze me,i love `em!!
Superb Sir:thumb2:,
Andy

Good evening Gentlemen,
I`m in a position at the moment where i`ve become SO intensely sapped of mojo for my usual stuff,(the recent Vietnam Dioramas have taken most of my modelling time this year, and i needed a slight break! ), that i`ve been doing a few, small, and different subjects,on a makeshift table downstairs from my "War Room"!!
So here are my 2 "Transport" WIPs.....
res9.jpg
A Russian WW2 era Cart, which i`ll use on my mini Dio with the Staff car i`m doing there. Also, some rudimentary paint going down on the interior for my Triumph Herald... the masking of the upper body may look excessive:thinking:..... and it probably is!!:tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy:
Next,a 1/72nd,(VERY OLD),Airfix Arado float plane...... I`m SURE i must`ve done this one way back when..... and this Box looks like it might be of the same era!!!.....
res7.jpg
Early days,i`m not really a wingy man any more.....but i really wanna do some now..... i`m enjoying this one so far.... who knows..... i might even finish it!!:dizzy::tears-of-joy:

Nice variety there. Herald looks to be going together well. Never made an Airfix car in my youth, they didn’t have enough guns for me……
Built the Arado as a kid though, but can’t remember anything about it at all, apart from it had floats…..yours looks good.
