I was out near beverley at about 10.30 this morn michael , and i saw 10 tucanos fly over in a formation that looked like a number 6 (or 9, whichever way you look at it!) ,must have been part of the same lot you saw ,, tony

just mentioned this to my missus and she wondered if its anything to do with the 6 poor chaps that lost their lives recently.

      a formation in a "6" as respect.

Most of what flies over our house are helicopters - apaches, police helicopter (bl**dy nuisence, especially at 3 o clock in the morning!!!!) air ambulance and coastguard!!!

        Cheers, Andrew

I suspect as the weather is getting better, many of us will be outside more often and sightings will increase. Just a shame the RAF has so little to actually put in the air these days.

I was at the lakeside at Bowness last Tuesday and spotted a black Tucano flying the length of Windermere, the underwing markings were E2R and a white crown on the tail fin. Must have been prepared for the Jubilee celebrations, perhaps. On the Monday I saw two Tucanos over the hills, a Chinook and a C130 flying over Bowness! Most of the other stuff the RAF have is probably out in Afghanistan.

Wonder if it is something to do with this recent practice to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee?

If we had a chimney it would of been taken off this morning of a very loud and low Merlin... Me thinks that yet another poor sole has washed to sea on his Li-Lo..... Always the same as soon as the sun comes out, so does the Merlin.

                            Nice one Hoggat.

Did you now it was flying today or was it a great bit of luck ?

My story starts thus: Daughter No1 was about 5 miles away at her friends house. She phones me all excited saying she had just seen the Vulcan. What a proud moment, not only did she identify the Vulcan, but also got quited excited by actually seeing it in the air. But I was thinking, no, she must be mistaken, but what else could she have seen. So, I carry on washing the car, a bit dissapointed that I might have missed the Vulcan. Every time I hear a noise in the sky I look up, but nothing. And then, the noise, I thought it can only be one thing, a quick spin of my head and there flying right towards my house was the Vulcan. It continued towards me and turned right over my house, well not just my house, mine and about 3 others up the road. But for the purpose of my story, it was mine, and mine alone. It then turned and headed off Easterly going home I think.

It turns out there was a Falklands Memorial Dedication, at the National Arbouretum, Alrewas. This is I think where the Vulcan had been today.

yeah i knew it was flying i follow her i live a stones throw away from the airport i went down there at 9:30 and waited for her to leave i knew she was going about 11:30 - 11:45 ish but didnt want to get caught up in the crowd .. hense how i was in just a good place for the photos,

The last flight she did she had fuel problems so this was the first flight since they fixed the problem and since she has had her nice new shiney paintwork, she took off the landing gear went up then she banked sharp while fetching the landing gear down again, then she banked hard over inline with the runway.. started coming in low (by this time people was talking about maybe a problem and with the last problem of the fuel) then the landing gear disappeared back up and she ripped it open with an amazing low fly by and banked it straight over where every one was stood... was awesome

this one her coming back in when we thought maybe a problem.
