Hi all

Firstly, apologies that I have not been around much recently and not commented on your work as much as I would like. Work has unfortunately been extremely busy the past few weeks, to the point that I found myself working first thing in the morning on both Christmas Eve and Boxing day.... ....and I might have to do a bit of catching up this morning too...:sad:.

I'll also continue to be around a bit less over the coming months as my employer has recently agreed to fund my study for a professional qualification (£2k+). It's all distance learning but there are some 'in-person' online sessions during the course. The final test and assessment are late May and early June respectively. I hope it won't mean I have to forego the Movie/TV GB but I'll have to play it by ear.

ATB.

That's a shame Andrew,
Mind you, it's obviously all for "betterment",so when it's done and dusted, and you've passed your qualification,(which you undoubtedly will ;) ), you'll be in an improved place,so allowing you more, kits, stuff, and... Benchtime!! :)
Until then,good luck with it all,and don't be a, (total),stranger ! ;)

The bench will still be there and the qualification is a good thing. Good luck with the study and test.

Good luck andrew , you’ll smash it . Ive been struggling with getting bench time lately too , this bloody working malarky is a serious pain in the arse , getting in the way of bench time !!

Good luck with the studies, what ever it is you are studying, (care to share).

Thanks guys for the support!

@Ian M - to answer your question, I work in financial services compliance. Specifically, the UK's financial services arm of a global motor manufacturer (no name for obvious reasons). I am the Financial Crime Manager and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer. My job is to make sure we comply with the UK's anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing laws, regulations and guidance.....oh and our global HQ AML policy. We're subject to exactly the same rules as banks and the like.

It's a role I ended up in almost by accident/chance a number of years ago and whilst my work career is very relevant, the course will help pull that all together. Plus it's an area that is constantly changing. For example, every knows about GDPR but the 4th and 5th EU Money Laundering directives (2017 & 2019) passed most people by for some unknown reason :astonished: :smiling5:....not quite as big a change as GDPR was but in our world just as significant!!

Thanks again all!

Cool! GDRP know a lot about that as the good lady here is/was very involved is getting the firm to comply... The MLD.... knew a bit about that as in Denmark if you buy something over DKK10000. it cant be cash! lol like that happens a lot in my house... (Though I did buy a car and paid for that with my Dankort Which is basically just a plastic payment card = Cash lol

Are the old 10,000 GBP/EUR/DKK limit! In the UK can you can still in theory use cash for such purchases but if you're not regulated by the FCA, you have to register with HMRC as a 'High Value Dealer' to do. But regardless, most firms just point blank refuse to do so due to the risks. And you're right about using things like payment cards.....you have to rely on the card providers checks and processes being good enough!

Good for you Andrew , go for it . Most of us are retired, so marvel at the out put those still working manage . Hope you do manage some modeling and to keep in touch .

Good luck Andrew. Now if you could ask your employer to fund my research into making models and the mental health benefits, then that would be greatly appreciated ;)

Interesting job, Andrew.
Best wishes for your course and final exam.:thumb2:
Bench is patient, will be still there and welcome you as if you never left. :smiling:

Good stuff Andrew and I can only wish you the best!!! I know you will have no probs with the schooling. Extra cash, while not good for the stash, is always good to have in these trying times.

I'm with Mr. Smiff as to what you and Ian were talking about. After re-reading it, I think, I have come to the following conclusion(s)......

You are going to school to further your money laundering skills and therefore will be paid more for it. I think, with your current laundering skills, you should be rich enough to stop working all together. I may be wrong, but this seems like a good thing???!!! Is there a sub-course in your schooling to help improve your nicking the hotel chocolates out of the rooms too? Or is that a different school?

In conclusion, please take care of yourself and if you should get caught, just send us your cell number and address and we will try to send some care packages (including saw blades) to help you out during your 20 year stay.......

Prost

Cheers Allen...
I think that sums it up nicely ;)

Cool. Education is never wasted. Put as much in as you can and you will get the most out of it Andrew. Once you get used to the new regime you’ll still work in some bench time. It’s in your blood…..

Andrew, you lost me (and a few others) on the first few words of your 'Job Description' :upside:

But I'm not lost in wishing you all the best in your future studies and the future in general.

Keep in touch, there's a good lad!

Ron

All the best Andrew in your endeavours. I'm sure you'll find a bit a bench time to de-stress.
I agree with John totally. How on earth you "workers" find any time to model does you credit. Even us old timers who are retired find it hard at times.
