Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2021)

This is the third of the models I ordered at the beginning of the year, having made a resolution to NOT add to the stash :tired: :hungry:;):smiling5:

I bought this because the very first model I ever built was a 1/48 apache from Italeri when I was 14 and this machine has been a lifelong favourite. I feel my skills are better than they were back then (hopefully not worse!) and I fancied revisiting the model that started it all and found this kit comes with british markings, so appealed to me.

Got this through today. Won it on a raffle. What a beast it is. Huge box and so much detail.

I did not expect too much for the price, but for £13.25 I thought it was worth a punt.
There are 7 handles, a sharpening stone but who sharpens knife blades? and a rubbish pair of tweezers and a load of blades of various shapes and some needle punches all held in the box with magnetic strips. The handles are light aluminium and the bit that grabs the blade is made from some kind of hard plastic, not a patch on Proedge or X acto but if they last for a few months I will be happy.

Andy.

Morning all

So this popped up on my phone somewhere (can't remember where). Whilst Germany's interwar and WW2 periods have been covered extensively this grabbed my attention as it covers a period I personally haven't seen covered much before. So I decided to take a punt on it. It's so new I had to pre-order it for purchase before publication.

There are couple of online reviews for it. The Times has one HERE but I don't have a subscription, so can't see what they think. The Spectator reviewer definitely doesn't like it. That said a few well known people have put their name to it. Either way I know very little about this period of Germany's history, so hopefully I will learn something.

ATB.

Andrew

Received this today, 'no bench-time' results in more dreaming about new projects I guess :smiling5:...

As promised the alternative paint mixer has arrived.
£25 inc.P&P.
Its listed on Wish 20210116_111821.jpg20210116_112038.jpg20210116_111846.jpg20210116_111830.jpgas a tattoo ink mixer.

And now the mixing of Vallejo Model Colour Paints.
A gentle pressure, top down into the cup, and 1 to 2 minutes.
It does work reasonably well, and once mixed would probably only need a quick blast before the next painting session. Some of the paints have been stood for years and were completey separated.
Next will be how long will it last, we shall see?20210116_110244.jpg20210116_110314.jpg

Two sets of US Army tank crews for various vehicles I have on the go or in mind, and a set of tracks for my HVSS Sherman, so I can finally finish that one. Also, a 1 mm chisel and a set of 0.25 to 1.35 mm tools for scribing rivets onto models (not punching them from plastic card).

Yet another raffle win. Got these through today from Valiant Wings. Very well printed and look fantastic. Can't wait for their He219 book to be reprinted soon.
