Kinetic 1/48 f104g starfighter

Hi Mark, you picked one of their better kits that deserve the Gold stamping. Many of my friends say it's a lovely kit and nice to build.

Cheers,
Richard

First thing I done was offer up the fuselage halves and a perfect fit :smiling: everything seems very nicely moulded and detailed, there are no instrument panel decals so have a resin replacement, some pe supplied including belts for the early type seat, also supplied is the later type seat but no instruction for it! Have am pe belts for the late type but looks tricky so I'm going to build up both seats and see which ones the winner.

Hi Mark
A real thin rocket of a plane. Interested in seeing how you get on with the resin instrument panel

Ooh lovely , I’ll be watching mark . I take it the only decal option is for RNLAF ?

An update. Made a start on some painting, wheel bays and engine parts.
Base coloured the cockpit and some detailing done.
As for the seats I was building early and late versions because I haven't done pe belts before and figured I could use the one I messed up the least!
As I happens I'm reasonably pleased with how they both turned out, early version (with red headrest) was a lot simpler, still has a few plastic parts to go.on yet but later version done.20211017_223407.jpg20211017_223503.jpg20211017_223524.jpg20211017_223556.jpg20211017_224126-1.jpg

Nice work on the seats and "office" Mark.......Here's one I snapped at the Warhawk Museum in Idaho last month. It's an A model instead of a G, but what the hey........don't know if you can find anything useful to reference from it, but I offer it up for your consideration. Model on. Rick H.P1011930.JPG

Really lovely work in the cockpit. The IP and seat look the biz. You don’t see too many Starfighters modelled which is a shame really.
Looking forward to the progress on this one.
Cheers

Nicely done office Mark, one of the seats will fit better I think, better you dry fit with the canopy as the headroom may have been a problem...can't recall exactly but someone mentioned cutting off the bottom of the seat stand on the older seat to fit.

Cheers,
Richard

Looking really fine. Great clean start on an aircraft with great clean lines. Nice one Mark .

Looking really good Mark, I’m currently watching a German one at the moment, I also have a 1/16 cockpit kit hidden away somewhere. Look forward to seeing more of your build

Thanks for all your comments guys :thumb2:
Nice build Mark, you should be please with both seats.
Cheers John, I kinda wish I had made a mess of one of them because I would know which one to fit ! I like the more detailed later version but something about the simplicity of the early version appeals.think I'll have to do heads or tails!

Fuselage is together and the fit is spot on, a bonus is most of the top can be glued from inside before the front wheel housing goes in to save oozing glue from squeezing the two halves together. Cockpit in. Seat can go in later. Can only say good things about this kit so far :thumb2:
