Scale Model Shop

Airfix quality control

Some shocking failures of those in charge of checking and packing. Perhaps everything is so automated that there are no humans left in the whole chain of production. :rolling:

You would expect better from a company that's been around as long as they have!

More moulding short shots..seems like they have issues with the moulding sub contractors….

Very poor quality, worthy of a replacement kit, or a refund which is not much help if you really want that model.

Andy.

Yeah Mark.....the company has been around for a long time........but where are the D*mn things made these days??? If I was Peter I'd be asking ...no demanding a replacement kit including the shipping. Rick H.

A replacement kit and something for the paint ,time and effort.

Don't worry I will be giving them a nice phone call first thing tomorrow.
Good for you , esp as the latest TV program on keeps going on about how keen the CEO is to have things right.
Hope you let us know how you got on .

And on further inspection the lower wing section looks like this.
Some one is going to get a phone call. tomorrow
And should look like this.
That really is shocking!! How your get it sorted and get dinner decent compensation for your troubles....

Don't we have enough problems with Airfix selling kits from worn out moulds which are 60-70 years old? And short shot pieces aren't new. I remember getting their big HMS Victory about 60 years ago, only to find one of the hull sides was missing most of the bow area. OK - I got a replacement but it took several weeks.

I know some of their modern stuff is pretty good for the price you pay - you don't get Tamiya quality but you don't pay Tamiya prices - but it seems it's become a lottery what you're going to get when you open an Airfix kit nowadays. That kit of Peter's is truly awful.

I can't see them lasting long if they don't get their act together.

Just had an email from airfix they have no spinners so hopefully they will have the other parts as I might be able to bodge it with some plasticard and filler I won't buying to many airfix kits in the future.

I think I’d ask for my money back Peter. If they can’t supply good spinners it’s unbuildable, so not of marketable quality.

Reading this you would think the TV series about the company is an entirely different business. They go on about getting things right and how reports in the magazine's mean so much, and how pleased the CEO is .Perhaps he should join this forum !
