Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2022)

My one and only kit purchase at the cosford air show last week. Mistercraft can be a bit of a strange one , the contents of the boxes could be from various manufacturers , heller , zts mikro, kopro , even old frog toolings . Scalemates is an invaluable resource when considering one of their kits to know what the tooling is . In this case its the Heller tooling , which was considered one of their best , combined with no less than 6 decal options for various air forces. Havent decided which one I’ll be doing yet .View attachment 455753View attachment 455754View attachment 455755
Mistercraft are a very odd company - they rebox all sorts of models, both good & bad! Their decal options are always interesting, and the colour instructions are quite good ( if a bit small! ). As you say, Scalemates is essential to separate the wheat from the chaff! ( The last one I picked up was the ex-Heller Storch, for not a lot )

I got two nice Airfix 54mm evilbay bargains this week.
For £5.99 plus postage ,(a reasonable price, they usually fetch about a tenner)and I was the only bidder; first up is the 10th Hussar -or IS IT......?

THIS is what was in the box

Two Coldstream guards which also fetch about £8-10 each. I guess because what the picture showed was obviously not a horse nobody wanted it. And if you were searching for the guardsman you wouldn't have found it either. but because I'm interested in all of them I always look at the pictures.so I got me a bargain there.

But the best bargain was this job lot for a winning bid of 11.99(plus postage).

Buried in this pile ,and the reason I bid, are two almost complete French fusiliers which will go into my Fusilier build - eventually. There are also 4 complete figures (so even at £5 each I am already quids in!) A nice Historex mounted hussar and a few other useful bits for the spares box.
So this more than makes up for my previous expensive (almost) c*ck-up

Close...Willow's a Weimaraner. Looking a bit ginge in the sunset.
Thought she was a bit less hairy than they usually are…..it was the colour that said Vizsla….friends of ours have an absolutely gorgeous one. Gentle as anything.

Nice haul Neil. If you are interested, I have the 54mm Airfix RNB Horse Dragoon kit that I don’t want. PM me.

Had a small rebate from the taxman so used it to buy some kits I’ve wanted especially the Hanuebu II the Revell one was a mistake as the Squadron model is vastly superior but it took me 2 years to track one down in finally located one online in France the person who sold it was superb it was ordered on the Sunday night and was delivered by Thursday morning
The victory I used to own but that was the original release must be 30 years ago needless to say that went bye bye’s years ago as it wasn’t mounted in a case of any sort so the dust destroyed it that won’t happen this time
The others well the 225 was a must seeing what has happened to it the Mosquito is an iconic WW II plane and the Tamiya version is supposed to be one of the best so that was added I’m also waiting delivery on the Border Models 1/32 Lancaster which took half the rebate otherwise I would have to dig into my bank account for that one there is no way I was not going to order that having a previous 1/32 from Hachette made from wood and metal which was an absolute disaster the wooden supports couldn’t cope with the metal engines and repeatedly snapped so I gave up with that years ago been waiting for a replacement ever since didn’t hear good things about the HK version so waited until the Wingnut Wings was announced at Telford then started following developments until you could actually order one then we had Covid which put the tin hat on it until just recently where I hope to take delivery sometime in July this year ?
Anyway enough waffling

Regards

Nice haul Colin. If you got that with your tax refund, I would hate to pay your tax!

My Father's day presents
Kit , chocolate , whats not to love Ian ?! I presume the pliers werent part of the deal ? :smiling5:
I just got back from my fathers day treat - Top gun maverick at the cinema , great feel good film and superb flying sequences , want to go dig out the FA18F out of the stash now and start looking for a mustang on ebay!!

Hi all

So picked these up at the MAFVA Nationals today. Nothing too exciting but used the money the kids gave me for Father's day. As Pete said whilst there were plenty of kit traders, there was only one doing supplies such as paint and the like, which was a shame as I was after some.

The magazine was free and I got it because it contains an article helpful for something in going to build.

The green stuff in the bag is camo netting.....I know you can do your own but I don't need much and this is a lot less faff....

I already have two Tiffys too but I'm trying to do a full flight for Junior's forces and this was only £6.

Well done Andy and I'm glad it was a fun time for you at the show.........wish I could have been there. :thumb2:

It was indeed. The show is not particularly large in terms of space, my local one is much bigger, but the quality of builds on display was top-notch, but the best bit was to finally put faces to some of the names on here.

ATB.

When I saw this I instantly recalled having had the same model as a kid (with the right parts in the box, obvs). Never ceases to amaze me that our memories can be triggered to recall the most minor things from half a century ago, no bother, yet walk upstairs and I haven't the faintest why I'm up there!

I made a right hash of that hussar, mind. Maybe I should get another copy and try again?

Postie just gave me this:

An ebay purchase <£14. Looking at the parts. they look really good, but the canopy really needs a paint mask!
