Well thanks to my local hobby craft store messing up. I snagged a bargain after some minor arguments over retail law.

This kit was meant to be £46 however was advertised on the shelf at £28.50. when she scanned it said that's £46 thanks. I said noooo £28.50. It's advertised at that price. So after got the manager he checked and basically relented and I got it at the shelf price. Yaaaaaas

Well done you. But, I don't think a shop has to sell a mis-priced item at thte lower cost. The ticket price is something like, 'the opening offer price' they're not the right words, or an 'invitation to buy' if I'm right, they could have refused to sell. But hey, they didn't refuse and it's yours.

My understanding is that they can only sell it at the marked price or refuse to sell it at all.

They definitely do not have to, but sometimes will if its not much as a sign of goodwill.
This is from the Citizens Advice website

If you haven’t bought it yet
If you take an item to the till and are told the price on the tag or label is a mistake, you don’t have a right to buy the item at the lower price.
You could still try asking the seller to honour the price.

To be fair, the store honoured the tag price.
Could have been a genuine reduction that did not get updated on their system. Hence the bar code giving a different price.
Wotan. Bobby stores are not going out of business because of this. It is because people like us have deserted them to buy cheaper on line.
And Tim, it was probably a genuine error, not an attempt at fraud on the hobby store's part to get this into perspective.

Use them or lose them! How many times have we heard that?
Give them a break ! Massive hikes in business rates, rent, national minimum wage and employers national insurance are killing them off gradually. We should be glad of the ones hanging in there, often run by modellers themselves with the personal expertise and care that goes with that sort of business ! Better than dealing with a faceless warehouse operation where model kit are ' just another line's to sell.
