That’s my final shift at work completed after just over 30 years on the railway. Now we just need to get the house move concluded so I can get to my hobby full time. No more shifts and early alarm calls . My new boss might be tough though but I did marry her 😂

......but new boss comes w/benefits......

Nice one mick , enjoy your free time ( pretty soon you’ll be wondering how you managed to fit everything in and work full time too ! )

Great news! Enjoy your retirement mate.
I retired just under two years ago, but have settled into a nice routine.
My one tip would be to keep yourself busy. Without "work" you lose that bit of routine and it would be easy to slip into just lounging around doing nothing, which, IMHO is not good for the body or mind.
As above, its a cliche, but you will soon question how you found time to work and do everything else? The everything else sort of expands....
I do miss the work people, they were (mostly) great.....but I certainly do not miss the work, the office politics, the endless meetings, the pointless training, the wasted time, the bad managers, the box ticking exercises, etc, etc.
Glad to be out of the work environment now.....

Great news Mick. Just two more years and I hope to be joinging you.

Welcome to the retired club

I will second what peter says..... Keep yourself busy....... And if you are used to working outdoors take up going for long walks regulary or you will miss the fresh air and daylight

You might want to note how quick it takes you to get used to not having to get up at silly oclock in the morning to go to work......... Took me about 4 months...... I know someone who worked in the railway and after 5 years retirement he still gets up at 5am lol..... Cant break the habit

Nice one Mick. As others have said…routine is your friend. Daytime TV and social media (apart from SMod) are not.
