Hi Barry, not nice to hear what's happened to you but happy it's going the right way. Besides the treatment and care...with the positive attitude towards the hospital food...the signs look good.

Richard Wabble.

Good to hear that you are still very positive and things are hopefully still going the right way.
Get better and back to the bench.

Hi all. Today I have my last radiotherapy which has gone really well. There are more oncology treatments to come, including injections in a few days.

I am still not able to get out of bed but the numbness is much receded. Lots of physio to come and that is hard work.

The staff here are brilliant, I just wish all the patients were! I just don’t understand how so many grown men can revert to ungrateful children and be so rude and demanding. My disgust at so many patients is balanced by my admiration of how professionally the staff deal with them.

Anyway. Thanks for the enquiries. Slow progress but sure.

I'm glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction Barry.

I hear you on the other patients. I had to spend a week in hospital a few years ago and also couldn't believe how rude and ungrateful some people can be towards the ones that are trying to care for them.

It looks like things are on the up for you Barry. Stay positive and best wishes for your full recovery.

Well done Barry on the 'Snap' kit - your best yet ;)...
Food - I think I lived on wheatabix, jelly, and boiled fish with Parsley sauce for a whole week untill they kicked me out into the world, then sent me home with an A1 sheet of what I could and could not eat....
They will soon have you back on your feet, despite all the bad publicity I think the NHS work wonders and support them fully.
Keep us informed and let us know how your modelling skills are improving...
Take care and all the best to you and your family.

Pleased to hear that you've got the last radiotherapy session out of the way Barry and I wish you all the best for the future sessions.

That Harrier does look pretty good considering it's a snap together kit.

ATB.

Andrew

I'm pleased that everything seems to be heading in the right direction. Glad the radiotherapy has gone so well. I'm afraid being rude, aggressive and ungrateful seems to be becoming much more common these days, not just in hospitals but everywhere. The way some people speak to the serving staff in restaurants is a disgrace.

On the ‘rude and obnoxious’ patient line. A story from my first night spent in A&E.

About 1am a doctor and two nurses came to my bay to see me. All looking very glum faced and miserable. They had been looking at my scans and consulting with Kings. They told me I had cancer which was not a surprise at that point. I just thanked them for being honest with me. But they were so glum and miserable when they left I just thought, that’s it, I will be dead in months.

For the next few hours I lay in bed reviewing my life, thinking about what I need to do and making peace with what I thought was happening, as far as I was concerned, that was it, my life was over.

Then at 7am I heard this horrible raspy loud voice in the corridor berating a nice young nurse who was just trying to help him. I was disgusted at what I heard and just got angry, if I could have stood up then I am sure that I would have intervened.

But, in my anger suddenly my mood changed. Why the hell should I just shuffle of this mortal coil and leave such arseholes behind, bugger this, I am not dying.

That was the turning point for me. So even these rude arseholes can have a positive effect.

Apologies for the language but in context I think its appropriate.

YES Barry where ever i am out an about or like you in hos i like to be polite to people an patiecne to people as most people an like the docs an nurses are only tryin to help you an for that i would an am most gratefull as i think that how we should all behave as there is to much rudeness an poeple wanting to fight now what ever is up with the human race now ?

I'll second that Paul

The staff were magnificent with mum, 100% care. Watching the nurses with the dementia patients was a joy, such care and understanding. Anyone who assaults them should be banned from hospital after a 2yr no early release jail spell. Me I'd let them play with a Tiger

Fully agree with this. A real eye opener is to be in A & E late evening and early morning. By far the weirdest thing I think is those that come in bringing their whole family , grandparents, kids, mum and dad, etc. It’s not a family day out for gods sake. Mind you, hospital patients have got nothing on care home residents family members. My wife works in one, and the way they behave is appalling in the extreme. Demanding, arrogant and dictatorial doesn’t begin to describe it. My daughter works as a veterinary nurse, and animal owners are apparently just as bad.

Tim, I agree, some of the animal owners need a labotomy once in a while....
And Barry, if you see old raspy voice call him over, and tell him a few facts of his life....
