Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

So a big thanks to our own @KarlW for his help with these.

I've been looking for some plane stands for the plane kits I plan to make for wargaming but the Revell and AIrfix offerings didn't quite fit the bill for my needs. I saw Karl use these back in January and asked for the info but the seller had none left.

He then emailed very late on last Sunday whilst, to use his words, he was "Just browsing eBay with beer......" to let me know the seller had them back in stock. So I jumped on.....they were a bit pricey and so I submitted a cheeky offer at 20% below asking price which was accepted straight away.

The finish on them looks a bit 'meh' at the moment as they have a protective cover on them, in reality they're perfectly clear! They're actually angled slightly for either upwards or more importantly downwards flight - perfect for Junior's Typhoons as they attack my Germans.

Thanks again Karl for bearing me in mind! You sir, are a scholar and gentleman!

Andrew

A rebox of a Dragon Model from 1991 - another unusual pairing for the stash - an ebay swoop, not as cheap as I hoped, but others will insist on bidding..............

Oddly enough, about ten years ago, I ended up buying watches on ebay - normally on a Saturday night, after a session in the local - I had enough watches, for a different one every day, plus a spare! Very weird, I stopped buying them, after I changed my local!

Back from the NIMA show, only two traders with nothing that caught my eye, but met one of the Ireland IPMS members who had this for me, he wanted 30 euros, I gave him £30 and still felt I was robbing him.
For a big project slowly coming together....

I've found that too Dave....most inconsiderate if you ask me....shame there is no 'dibs' option on eBay. Not seen that before, so very unusual as you say!

While strolling along in a mall while waiting for SWMBO to finish her appointment I stopped at a book shop and got this book for a bargain from RM109 to RM39.90 approx. 8 to 9 Quid...lots of great photos to do dioramas or improve the one at hand.

Wow Richard, great book, and I still find it amazing you can pay in Reich Marks on your side of the world, even after our last discussion about it, and the war's been over for almost 78 years!!!...

Peter , that box art looks like it's coming into land at Kai Tac airport in Hong Kong.

Had experience landing at that airport twice before it was closed. Literally can see people in their living rooms as we land. I remember the sharp right turn and we're on the tarmac seconds later.

Yep, me too! :flushed:
Just about the only other War canoe I could see me building. That big girl got history! its got to be one of the big four. Yamato, Bismarck, Hood and Missouri. Probably the longest serving Battle Ship ever. 1945 Pacific ocean through to the Persian gulf in 91.
Lookforward to seeing what is hidden in that big box!

Wanted to build the big mo for a long time, never thought it would be in this scale though! Its big! Bigger than yamato by 7 metres. Have ordered some eduard detail sets and aber barrels for it. Painting the hull will be fun without using a paint roller lol.

Kai Tac airport in Hong Kong.
I once flew back to the UK from HK - when taking off, it was disconcerting to see junk masts whipping by the wingtips, seemingly about 20 m away! - I didn't care, I was on my way home, after a 7 month trip!
