I have never built anything from Accurate Armour with the exception of some tools. On first inspection it is going to need some work. One thing I do like though is the texture on the tarpaulin.

Ha! ha! never built anything from AA - welcome to the club of dashed dreams. Every model I have had from them has either required a lot of work - Chieftain bridgelayer where the bridge had to be scratchbuilt - Challenger arrv/Chieftain arv sitting at the back of the shelf in the shed waiting for the day when I get the patience to carry on with them, down to the current build where a lot of sanding was required to get items to fit correctly.
Beware of hidden air holes in the resin, you can be sanding away and they appear from nowhere....

AA had a very good reputation 25–30 years ago, but I do get the impression that with the years, their amount of care has slipped somewhat. I’ve got an FV 432 and M114 of theirs in the stash, both purchased (second-hand) long before the plastic kits of them came out, and I’ve been wondering if I should go and build one or just buy Takom’s versions instead …

Not really too much cash spent Dude 2! About the same as in Lingen, last March. The owners from many company's were there and easy to talk to. They are open to feedback and it helps them improve their products. MIG does a seminar at the SMC every year too. He's a normal guy and puts his jeans on the same way we do everyday. They probably just cost more than ours....

In a case like this Jakko, I would take a long hard look at the AA offering and then the kit. I have their 432 and then took a look at the Takom kit - the AA 432 is now retired somewhere. Same as the Chieftain bridgelayer, had it not been for the price it would be in the 'never to be built' box. The launch frame was totally useless and the bridge itself looked ok untill you looked down the length and then realises it was actually twisted down its whole length. Apart from the hull top part the rest of the model was scratchbuilt, so save yourself the headache.

Had an offer by email from a regular retailer 2/3 off :surprised: So in future will look at all emails and not just delete automatically.... £45... from £145..

Oh, you earthed it right buddy….you just managed to touch both poles at once…..if you’d held a lightbulb in your teeth you could’ve got it to light up LOL…..

I’ve been thinking that maybe I should put a rack somewhere to store my collection of old-and-not-going-to-be-built kits, which most likely will include the Accurate Armour ones I have :)
 
Good afternoon all

So I went with my club to a show in Letchworth yesterday (less than an hour from home), had a great time and end up coming back with this haul.

I needed some new steel rules, hence them.

The Harrier was yet another lucky-dip win....that's three in only two shows!!

And I was practically forced to buy the Tempest V. It was for charity and so it would have been most impolite not to support them!

As many UK members will know, there is a UK charity that keeps the only flying Bristol Blenheim in the world in the air (blenheimsociety.com/). They have a second-hand/nearly new kit stall that goes to many of the shows and our club secretary always buys a kit to support them. I decided to do the same and in the end plumped for the Tempest.

It’s a 2022 tooling, so brand new and so should be good. As you can see it was only £10 and the next cheapest I could find online delivered was for £12…..so a win for me as well as the charity!!
