It’s been quite some time since I built a model, owning a model shop killed it has a hobby, that’s why I started fishing but I’m going to get in to it again, we are having some work done in the house, new flooring, ceiling, decorating etc and I’ve been upgraded to the biggest spare room, I’ve still got some more hobby zone modules to build and find the boxes with all my modelling stuff in, but I’ve made a start :)

John, it's great that you are getting back into it, and your man cave is looking very good, albeit a bit too neat at this stage, although I'm sure that will not last once you get cracking.

It's not like you don't have plenty of kits to choose from eh? lol

Good to see you back at it boss

Very cool John. I get the impression that the forum came before the shop? Just some of the things that have been said in various posts.. is that right?

I'm pleased for you John. I hope you can find the time to enjoy your new space.

Good stuff John ,misses can't wait for it to warm up a bit more so I can get back out on the bank and she can have the dining room table back to old now to sit out in the bitter cold all day ,enjoy your own little space ,lucky man. Dave

Looking good John.

It that Apache the first victim...I mean subject.

So you're building a Spitfire and getting a beer delivery whilst doing it? Or has my dyslexia played up again? ;) lol

A few weeks ago, my local newspaper had a column by a psychologist about why you shouldn’t turn your hobby into your career. Sounds like you could have been one of the examples from it ;)

Cool John. Seems like there's an IKEA for cave dwellings as they seem to look familiar in design...nice.
So cracking of knuckle joints and stretching to get limbs ready for the return building exercise.

Cheers,
Wabble

Looks an excellent space john , plenty of room to fill up with assorted crap until theres just an A4 size building space on the big cutting mat ! I know you’ve been away from the bench for a long time but I think you're using the wrong glue ;) :smiling5:
Looking forward to seeing the beer delivery mk IX , ive got that in the stash too , might spur me in to get mine started .cheers tony

Shelf’s from B&Q and the desk came from Argos, I’ve had it over 20 years, it’s solid, if I was to buy it today it would cost 3 times more and the wood would be 3 times thinner :(

I was lucky enough to find a great compromise on that. As an architectural model maker I had a job I loved every day. The subject matter didn't interest me at all although the making side of things was brilliant. So making figures in my spare time didn't seem like a continuation of work. But when I was a commercial sculptor for a while, that totally killed it!
Loving the man cave John, best of luck with it!

I love my job too, but I'm always amazed when people routinely suggest I turn a pastime I love into a moneymaking enterprise - like, why?!

I've had it suggested re. veggie cooking, gardening and various sorts of modelmaking. I can't think of a quicker way to destroy the enjoyment of a hobby than that. I'm impressed that John has found a route back in, mind.

And the maths never seems to add up for me anyway - tons of work, loads of overheads and no-one prepared to pay the small fortune required to make it profitable. It's (usually) a completely daft proposition.

Nice tidy space John :thumb2:

Welcome back to the hobby :tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy:

Geoff.

Very nice John but, we will only accept it as a modelling room when you have paint, glue and bits of model kit all over the table or, in my case, normally stuck to my arms or face...it has happened.
