I've been a bit quiet this last month. Start of the month I caught a really nasty cold which hung around for about three weeks, then Fri 19th, the day I finally accepted my cold had gone, one of my two miscreant pussy cats - I can't work out which one and they're not saying - managed to trip me up in the kitchen. I hurt both feet but thought I'd just sprained one ankle and bruised the toes on my other foot. After hobbling and crawling about for a week, in a fair amount of pain - which is why I haven't posted much - I finally decided I should go the hospital. After spending 9 hours there today, I'm glad I went.

Turns out the foot I thought was sprained was broken in two places, and one of the leg bones was also broken just above the ankle. On the other foot, it turns out I fractured my three middle toes.

Oh well. Could have been worse. I could have broken the cat's leg as well and ended up with a £1000 vet bill.

Anyway, on the road to recovery now, so hopefully I'll be back to posting my usual inane gibbersish soon!

Hope it all gets better soon Dave. I bet the cat just looked offended that you fell over it….

Hi Dave
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Shows how a simple accident can turn out to have quite serious consequences.
Jim

Likewise a speedy recovery Dave, glad you decided to get it checked out .

Hope they heal up well Dave, and the cats aren't too traumatised!
Pete

I'd hook up a contraption to trip the cats :smiling5::tongue-out3:...that's the devil in me.
You hobbled for a week on fractures...join the Commandos, they'll accept you right away. :smiling6:
Get well Dave.

Cheers,
Richard

Glad you're on the mend Dave.....oh, and no more "pussy footing" about the kitchen!! :tongue-out3: From now on it's go slow and beware of feline traffic!! ;) :thumb2: All the best, Rick H.

Our cat is sooo calm and quiet that she just sleeps 23 hours a day and comes like "pet me human and feed me l will grant you my miaouling and puuuurrring" she is adorable but it could be impossible for her to make us fall...speed recovery Steve

Ouch! Must of been quite a trip to do that much damage. Lets be thankful it was not worse. My cat is a pain in the butt when he's hungry and I am in the kitchen. Always at my feet waiting for bits to fall on the floor! He almost had me over a while ago whilst walking to the sink with a pan of boiling water.... that could have been nasty for us both!

A speedy recovery to you Dave. The fact that you hobbled round for a week with a busted foot, toes and ankel is amazing. I had it bad enough for a day when I broke my ankle..

Sorry for your accident, Dave:face-with-head-bandage:. Hope you'll recover soon.
Once I broke 4 out of 5 toes on my right foot and went to the hospital 2 days later:face-with-thermometer:. Those were definitely 48 painful hours, and I had no cat to blame (if ever a cat is to be blamed for being a cat), just my turning left (in my Country, not in UK ) with low sun in my eyes so that I didn't see the huge Peugeot coming from the opposite direction... 2 months later I managed to begin walking decently. Please, be careful as your backbone could suffer from not well balanced walking caused by your healing feet.:thumb2:
Best wishes also from one of our furry friends (she's our neighbour's cat but feels very comfortable on our beds).

Don't think they're at all bothered to be honest Pete. They still spend most days either pestering me for food or getting in my way by sitting in front of the TV or computer depending on which one I'm using!

I doubt that Richard. It was more stupidity than bravery on my part - I just don't like hospitals!

Like I just said to Richard - not bravery but stupidity and a dislike of hospitals.
