Nice wood. I've used the same trick with wheels like them. A Lysander I think.
The engine cover and nose have now been fitted . Before I glued the wing top pieces i had to open up a marked hole for the undercarriage leg. Problem is there are 2 holes on each wing , marked A and B , the smer instructions not giving any clue which one to use . Luckily Scalemates website had the original heller instructions to download which showed that A was the one to use. After this the wing tops were fitted. The only joint that needed more than a quick sanding was the rear of the wing bottom to the fuselage which has been filled . The prop has had the endplate painted and the cannon drilled and painted gunmetal . The endplate isnt perfectly round but you can only work with what you get . Next up tomorrow is fitting the radiator, tailplanes and undercarriage. 
Airframe all together now , just a few tiny bits to add later .I’m not sure whether to fit the windscreen now or wait till after painting . Next step is to prime the tail with white and once this has had a coat of red it will be masked up and the whole lot will get some nice gloss black primer
I like the look of this strange little thing.

Oh and don't forget Tony........Dora Wings are releasing a D.501 in 1/32 scale, (kit DW32002) if your eyes get too buggy and the nerves are shot from building this one. She is looking mighty nice so far Sir!!!

It would look great in 1/32 allen , its quite a large wingspan , four feet bigger than a spitfire . I bet its not a cheap kit though .

Superb work Tony, and I've made a note of your fantastic wooden propeller technique. :thumb2:
The model has now had a coat of Alclad aqua gloss , decals , and another sealing coat of aqua gloss.The decals went on fine , the tail stripe decals being the trickiest as you always have to trim and touch them up . Just a few last bits to put on tomorrow , windscreen , guns , aerials, headrest , wheels , then the exhausts to paint and a pin wash for the control surfaces. Its not getting any weathering as the few period pics show very clean machines , not even a trace of exhaust staining .

Nice job,might have to try some of those alclad paints.
Its only the clear coat thats Alclad mark ,and thats one of their water based acrylic finishes. The silver is Vallejo Metal Color , another water based acrylic . I tried the Alclad metallic laquer paints once and couldnt get on with them , they didnt cover well enough for my liking plus they really stink ! Ive found these Vallejo metal color paints to be very suited to my style , theyre the most hard wearing , forgiving metallic acrylics ive come across so far . That's coming on very nicely indeed. I remembered someone mentioning a certain Vallejo range of metallic paints were very good but couldn't remember which ones, so thanks for the tip.
I see these are specifically designed for airbrushing. Do they need much thinning on top? Also have you tried then with a brush on smaller areas?

They just spray straight from the bottle andrew , just a quick shake ( theres a ball bearing in the bottle too) and off you go . I usually apply them over a gloss black primer . Theyre very hardwearing and take a lot more handling and masking than the model air metallics , As for sealing the finish either Klear or alclad aqua gloss, i tried their own metal color varnish but it was a bit thick and I did t fancy thinning it for fear of it separating on the surface .I have tried brushing , its fine on smaller parts , if a little thin , but on a larger surface you would struggle to get rid of brush marks hope this helps cheers tony
