Here's my finished 1/144 Spitfire.

Thanks to Pete for suggesting and organizing this G.B.

Although they take little time to build, these kits are a real challenge to paint something like.

Brush painted in those little tubs of paint you get with Airfix 'Starter Kits'

A pig of an inaccurate, badly fitting, flimsy, soft plastic, s**t decals, dog of a kit! Small scale or not, I've never come across so bad a kit.

I've done my best, I can do no more.....

1/144, 1/72, 1/48. A scale comparison......

Looking at the photos, I've just spotted I've knocked off and lost the tail wheel, which just about sums up this lousy rotten excuse for a kit!

I've already cut off and binned the landing gear and converted the thing to flying mode, This before I realised the tail wheel was gone! So I'm not going to scratch build the tail wheel, root around in the bin for the U/C, then re-take the images. Life's too short .

There you go.
It's a good job the aircraft is a 'Means to an end.' ;)

Cheers.
Ron

Well done for going the distance with it, they do say you can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter.

No one could have done better with this micro kit. I think it's great. Well done Sir :thumb2:

Well done Ron for persevering.

It looks good to me.

I love the scale photos, especially the hands. No way would I have the skills or patience to go this small. 1/72 is challenging enough.

That is Hilarious Mick.......is this why the Almond Roca candies always looks like they came out of the cat litter box??? :tongue-out3: :tongue-out2: ;)

Don't beat yerself up too badly 570......I hadn't noticed the missing tail wheel, but I'm sure with your legendary photographic abilities, it won't be noticed as missing in the upcoming adventures that will soon unfold.:thumb2:

Actually you can apparently polish one...... Saw a YouTube video on it many moons ago on another modelling forum!

Looks like a spitfire, so I’d take that as a win Ron. Looks like Minicraft is one to avoid if you want to go to 144 though…..

Ron,

No complaints from me. By the sound of it it did well not to end up in the bin!! And your hand shots really do our it into proper scale!!!

ATB.

Andrew

I can see nothing wrong with that Ron. Until you mentioned it I never even noticed the missing tail wheel.

Thanks for all your more than generous comments. Much appreciated and after the trauma of the build, most welcome!

To be fair to Minicraft, this could well have been a dodgy 'One off'. I doubt it. If anyone wishes to subject themselves to this scale, I heartily recommend Zvesda 1/44, particularly their 'Snap together' range.

Speaking of trauma's, whilst having it, I forgot to include a picture of the aircraft's underside, so.....

Looks great to me Ron, much too small for me as 1/72 is the smallest I have ever built.

Andy.

Thanks to Andy and Pete for your input.

Andy, worth a punt, if just to quickly visit the dark side! Anything larger will then be a breeze to put together and paint.....

Thanks for your kind observations too, Pete.

Ron

It might have put up a fight, but looks to me like you won. But dude.. I just seen a bigger insect in the garden than that!

Still looks good Ron despite the problems with the kit.

I take it from your 'means to an end' comment you've got more planned with this. Is your 'chucker' all ready to go, or are you going to surprise us with yet another of your crazy ideas?

Thanks Ian. That made me chuckle!

Dave, thanks too for your positive comment re. the kit.

....Oh, and chucker at the ready. ;)

Cheers chaps.

I have said before, anyone who builds 1:44, gets my total respect. Fine job here old boy.
