Hi guys,
It’s an honor to participate in this GB for Alan. I've chosen this 1/48 Eduard Fw190A-8 (N° 82147)…

Although the kit offers no less than 5 paint schemes, my eye fell on this scheme from the book “Planes & Pilots, Fw190 1939-1945, p54” (French version)...

Which seems to be based on this Fw190F-8,

AlanG used the Wilde Sau (wild boar) insignia of the Luftwaffe night fighters as an avatar for a long time,

So in an attempt to make a creative reference to his avatar I would like to make a small diorama with some ground crew on top of the wing, under attack from a wild boar after they caught one of its piglets for dinner… We’ll see how that turns out, the plan is to create the animal in 3d and print it...

I can use the "9" for the scheme from the book,

Thanks for reading,

That looks like a nice kit, then again, I do like Eduard. The scheme looks very different, I do like the dirty winter look of some aircraft.

Great idea steven , I love the idea of the crew hiding up on the wing with an angry Boar underneath!

Thanks guys,

Made a start on this, some parts for the cockpit...

I'm used to work on less advanced/cheap models, so I'm quite impressed with the kit, many options to build as you like.

For example the instrument panel can be made from :
- molded gauges (green)
- colored PE gauges (yellow)
- flat panels with decals (red)
StevenFw190_011.jpg
I will try the colored PE parts for a change, as I always had molded gauges on my builds.

Still had a German resin pilot (PJ productions) in the stash for one of my Bf109's,
I think he will suit well for this project, looking at the crew standing on the wing.

Cleaned and glued him up with superglue, he sits a bit angled to make the arm work on the fuselage,
StevenFw190_013.jpg

Even got some Vallejo-primer and base colors done with the airbrush.
Painted the spinner white so I can mask a spiral...

That's all, thanks for reading - cheers

Good start Steven, the figure looks very nice 👍

p.s. thanks for allowing use of the header image. How do I use it? 🤔

Geoff.

Thanks Geoff, if you like the header, you can right-click on it, save the image and then use it in your own topic as the first image. Cheers

Excellent progress Steve. It wil be interesting to see how your kit comes together as mine is an Eduard kit also

That's fine progress. Pilot looks good - hope he fits OK. I like Eduard's choice of instrument panel.

Thanks guys,

The kit came with nice colored PE parts,
StevenFw190_015.jpg

I used superglue to glue the PE in place,
StevenFw190_016.jpg

Added some weathering/scratches, the engine was drybrushed with vallejo aluminium, then I repainted the black parts.
StevenFw190_017.jpg

Then all these parts need the go into the fuselage...
StevenFw190_018.jpg

Gluing/aligning all the parts at the same time to get the 2nd part of the fuselage on was a bit akward but it worked...
StevenFw190_019.jpg

Next I prepared the wing-parts, here I noticed a warp in the bottom-wing (the bottom engine cowling was not level in relation to the wing)
StevenFw190_020.jpg

Fuselage ready to mount to the wing,
StevenFw190_021.jpg

Here I got into trouble, the bottomwing is warped, and it takes a lot of force to force it into position...
StevenFw190_022.jpg

So I 'over-pre-bended' the plastic and then added a strong clamp to get the panel in place, but now the gluebond on the other side has opened up because of the tension...

Also glued the bomb included in the kit, the kit is an A8 (fighter), but I'm building it as an F8 (ground attack) from the B&w photo...
StevenFw190_023.jpg

So that's a very weird issue, does anyone else had a warped bottom wing? (Sprue "82140 I") Perhaps my kit had trouble comming off the injection machine?

Thanks for reading,
cheers

I havent got this far on my 1/48 Eduard kit but now I am worried. It will be interesting to see how Tims goes together.
