Dave, your killing me Buddy!!! I'm happy as can be, but I don't know about chuffed nuts...I guess they're like roasted cashews??? If somebody does know, it's ok if they post the answer in this thread. Thanks my friend...As I said Allen great stuff your nuts must be well chuffed ,strange one that how can nuts be chuffed im sure someone will tell us but please can it be started in a new chit chat bit rather than clog up up Allen's build. Dave
Thanks Mick, but there are more to do and then work on the fuselage to get it painted. Then more work with the 'nasties'...Great work on those decals Allen and good luck with the next stage
Hey Tim, I've been pricking holes for 2 days now to get them to lie flat. So far, so good. I did give the Iwata a try yesterday to paint the stripes in the rear wing. Appreciate the compliment and more below Sir...Very good work Allen. The decals have been beaten into submission and look great. It really is the only way to do that pattern I think, and it has to be done as it’s so iconic to the subject. If you end up with any stubborn decal areas that won’t snug down pricking very fine holes in the decal with a sharp scalpel blade will let the micro sol in underneath and allow the trapped air out as the decal settles again.
You’ve got to give the Iwatta a go as well. It is honestly easier to use and clean than the Aztek, and does make it easier to produce fine lines and spray small areas.
Hey, Olderthanme, I thought about the sponge trick for the mottling, but I have to use 3 or 4 different brands of paint to have all the colors I need. I will practice that method to see if I get the results I need. If not, then it's AB spray 'o' rama for it. No need to for the signage on my shoe bottoms, cause at my age, I can only drink one!!! PM ya in the morn...Well Youngerthan me, you have beaten the decal god into submission, and they do look the business. Had a think about your mottle camo on the fuselage - spray the base colour and then use a sponge to add the 'mottle'. Keep up the good work, and remember when out for the bottle digesting write 'Other Way Up' on the bottom of your boots....
Prost
Olderthan you...
Thanks John and there was one that did end up on my finger, and then on the tweezers, before I finally got it on the tail fin. I had one fold over on me too. The air did get a bit blue after that...As the others have said, excellent Decal work. I would probably have them on me and not the model .
John.

That, IMHO, is the greatest advantage of the Aztek: there isn’t a sticky-out bit in the middle of the airbrush getting in the way of holding it comfortably. It worked really well although, it is heavier than my Aztek and was weird to hold in my hand to use, with the air hose underneath, in the middle.
Never really found that myself. I did find the heavier Iwata makes finer work easier though. The greater mass of the AB dampens movement inertia so it doesn’t wobble about so much in use. That, IMHO, is the greatest advantage of the Aztek: there isn’t a sticky-out bit in the middle of the airbrush getting in the way of holding it comfortably.
Might be worth trying one of the spray gun style brushes now on the market Jakko. I think Barry has several and gets on very well with them. Interesting how other modellers hold the AB though. Wasn’t it Simon T that used to use an Aztec, but operated the trigger with his thumb?I find the thing that the air hose goes into, gets in the way of my fingers. I normally hold the airbrush in such a way that the upper side of my middle finger is against the back of it, and I don’t find that too comfortable. Not bad, but it would be much easier if that projection wasn’t there in the first place :smiling3:
I did see that accessories are sold to turn a normal airbrush into a pistol-grip one, I may want to see if I can find a cheapish one of those that fits an Iwata.Jakko, buy the cheapo attachment for a rattle can and play with that. If you find you can control a rattle can with a pistol grip and trigger, you'll do just fine with an A/B pistol grip style gun.![]()
I've always been mad Buddy and you know that all too well. Thanks and clever.......Maybe sometimes...This confirms my earlier thoughts, you are indeed MAD, but clever.
Nice job Dude1
Thanks too Bro! It's been an interesting learning experience for sure...Dude,
looking very fine mate some lovely work going on.
Much appreciated Paul! I don't know about award winning, but I can tell you about more grey hairs though! Do you have the same kit in the stash? Are you planning on giving it a go? Would be cool if you do....Great progress Alan, the Halberstadt is really coming together.
I really like the look of the lozenge finish on German WW1 aircraft and the decals you’ve laid down really look the part. It seems that you’re going for the same scheme I will going for - great choice. Looking forward to seeing this complete your work thus far has been excellent and the finished model promises to be a real show stopper.
Cheers
Paul
Uhh, Mr. Andrew, I'm afraid I can't say where your meds be or the last time you took some of them, Sir!!! I can say that I truly realize that your Laundering studies do have priority over a lot of things at this time. My build included...I'm retired and cannot keep up with half of the builds on this forum.Mr Dewire
Just had a catch-up old chap. Apologies for the tardiness but ones studies have not been assistful in keeping up with this most splendid of kit assemblages.
The markings of all varieties are most delightful and one must be congratulated on their most satisfactory application.
One cannot wait for the wingy bits to be attached to fuselage thingy.
Keep up the most spiffingly excellent of work.
Tally ho old chap!
Andrew
PS.... Can you tell me where I put my meds....I seemed to have misplaced them..... Most disconcerting....
