fascinated by the exploits of the Airborne
I know what you mean. Such a large 'vehicle' basically a throw away item, used only once. And of course, only one chance to get it right, there's no 'going around' again. So, an interesting subject, nice to see it being tackled here.

Thanks Jim, Mick, Paul, Fernando, Colin and Steve,

Jim & Mick, I have to discipline myself between armour, figures and aircraft regarding finishes. I have worked closely with other aircraft modelers to see how clean they approach painting their kits. I guess that helps.
Paul, I have a Waco too and yes it does look ugly like a sperm whale.
Fernando, glad you like the paintwork.
Colin, I'm intrigued by the fact they were willing to ride something built with matchsticks literally on impact to the ground...all respect to that generation.
Steve, wait till you see what I'd added for markings...

Now these brave men were going to have the ride of their lives and they must have had a great relationship and trust with their ship that they showed it with the grafitti written with chalk before departure.

I used Tippex correction paper strips and wrote with a sharp 2H pencil to get the stenciling. Anything that didn't stuck on was touched up with white paint.

View attachment 311603 Ok it's finished except for some antennae rigging. I enjoyed building this and am sad that I have not seen many built. I hear the Bronco 1/35 kit is popular but the price tag has scared me off. Maybe one day just for a section of a dio perhaps.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Ian, thanks...sorry for not replying earlier. I might be making the Waco to compliment my D-Day collection.

Cheers,
Richard

That turned out rather well.
Lets see a few more propper photos of it in the completed section.

Might be similar pictures of the completed Glider from this section which are around five. I'll start a post for it.

Busy taking notes and ready to steal all your great ideas. What a great result. I would give you an assist for my build if I werent afraid that you may not want to be associated with my fumblings.

Hi John, sooner or later I'll run out of old build blogs and have to really speed up my building. :smiling6: These guys fly in something with no engines...what about the ones who jump out of perfectly good ones? :flushed:

Cheers,
Richard

I remember building this one when I was about 14. I think I bought it on a visit to the Airborne Museum in Arnhem. It definitely didn't turn out like yours though! Lovely work.

Thanks Alex, I'm sure it will turn out differently now if you try it again.

Hi Richard
Great finish. Graffiti is such a nice touch.

Hi Jim, thanks. Without the historical references of graffiti on subject such as the Horsa I wouldn't have thought of adding it.

Cheers,
Richard
