Brilliant Paul, thank for the reply on the copper wire, a very clever idea.

hello all,
The decals have been applied. Dot washes have been applied as well as a pin wash.DSCF2722.JPG

DSCF2724.JPG

just noticed some fluff I will remove that later.

the exhaust received various coats of red acrylic and and pigments then it was dabbed with a sponge with dark yellow to try and show some surviving paint, not easy to see in the picture.

DSCF2723.JPG

the underside received some dusting with various pigments. I didn't want it muddy just a bit of accumulated dirt.

DSCF2720.JPG

the running gear was detailed and the steel rims polished with a lead pencil final some dirt.

Next a load was added.

Tomorrow I will make a start on the tracks.

comments welcome both good and bad.

Cheers

Nothing bad there Scottie.....I'd say you have nailed it! And it is my kind of "Dirty"......not too much but just enough to show that it has been out and about. :thumb2: Rick H.

That’s fantastic Scottie. Completely believable finish. The wheels in particular are superb......

Cheers Rick, that was the look I was going for.
What do you use for rope? Looks very realistic.
Gerry, the rope is just nylon thread formed into place with CA then painted.
Great close up shots Paul. Wonderful weathering all round. I particularly like the wheels.
Thanks Steve really glad you like it.

Tim, thanks mate you are to kind.

Just caught up on this. It is sublime Paul. I have gone from no job, to two, so had no time for modelling lately. But this has made me really excited to get going again, soon I hope.

Thanks Paul, got plenty of machine embroidery threads about here (so long as the wife doesn't find that I've been at it!)

All looking very good Paul, The dirt on the suspension & wheels is really convincing.

Paul

Just caught up on this and what can't say?

A truly outstanding job and it's not finished. This will look stunning once done.

ATB.

Nice weathering. Used but not abused. Just how I like them. Spending so much time on detail and paint only to obliterate it under a thick coat of mud never made much sense to me.
I know they got pretty mucked up IRL but.

Hi Scottie
A very realistic look. Do you fix your pigment work in any way or do you just rely on the matt finish to hold the pigment in place? It's certainly very effective.

Great work on the load, but why cover up that beautifully detailed bed? Why not remove some paint from rivet heads & ribs to further show wear & tear on the load bed & the excellent detailing? PaulE

Doggone it...you've gone and done it this time and am trying to find superlatives to express what I'm seeing but they've all been taken by the folks before me, Paul. :smiling2: Damn good it is...as simple as that.

Cheers,
Richard
