Just finished my 1st Trumpeter kit. 1/72 British " Wyvern" S.4.
Enjoyable kit to build. Brush painted with acrylics. A couple of decals missing due to crumpling and tearing. Overall went together very well. A smidging of filler in a couple of places.IMG_20201108_145901.jpgIMG_20201108_145820.jpgIMG_20201108_145758.jpgIMG_20201108_145736.jpgIMG_20201108_145708.jpgIMG_20201108_145658.jpg

Out of interest, are there any details in the kit for the insignia?
AFAIK deck code ‘O’ is HMS Ocean, which according to wikipedia was launched in ‘95.

Very nice Paul, and an unusual subject.

Paul,
A nice result of an interesting aircraft. I was surprised given the power of the engine how slow it was.

From what I can see it entered service in 1953 with 813 squadron. Other wyvern units were 827, 830 & 831. November 1956, 830 & 831 took part in the Suez campaign. Only 830 took part in combat flights, losing 2 aircraft in 79 sorties.
813 was the last squadron to be disbanded in 1958.
Hope this helps. Also included a picture of the painting quite I used.IMG_20201108_192441.jpgIMG_20201108_192458.jpg

Wow thats a cracking model.I know little.about the machine.Very nicely done.

Nicely done and an 'Interesting' looking plane as Jakko said.

Not come across it before and so had a look online for info. it appears to have been a pretty unsuccessful one at that and also be pretty dangerous for the pilots, judging by the number of accidents quoted on Wikipedia.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice job Paul , certainly had looks only a mother could love. I want one.

Excellent build paul , as said above not the most beautiful looking aircraft but certainly interesting . Brush painted you say? It looks flawless , great job , cheers tony

Really nice build Paul. Ugly old duck though isn’t it. Also, it seems to have suffered from the Westland engine curse, being tried with many power plants during development. All in all, not the most successful design!

Yes, brush painted. I have an airbrush but not used it yet. No room for a booth but one day when I get the cave sorted I may be able to invest and get one. Till then it's hairy brush time.

Nice build Paul. How was the fit? Anything to look out for...
And Colin...that's why I got one. Same Trumpeter kit.

Cheers,
Richard

Kit went together well. No real issues. A little Mr. Dissolved filler on a couple of seams. Really enjoyed building it. Looking forward to seeing how you get on. I will definitely build another Trumpeter kit.
