Just been putting Christmas away, and found this in the attic. So I thought I’d build it.

Wow - I remember my father helping me to build this in the mid 60's. be interesting to see how the moulds have stood up after 60 odd years!

Love this Ian , a fantastic aircraft and a great kit . Ive always fancied doing one but they always seem to suffer from very yellowed decals, this one looks fine though , cheers tony

Yay!
I MUST get back to repairing the markings on my one
AND seeing about finishing my 1/72 HP42 that's been sitting in her boxes for eighteen months...

A surprise entry ! I really like the look of this kit, but not in 1:44 I leave that scale to people with far more patience than me, and probably better eye sight.

That is a very atmospheric kit choice Ian. Really, really interesting and handsome looking aircraft that is very much 'of the period'.
I'm looking forward to the progress
Good luck with the build
Paul

Thanks guys.
Thought I’d show you some better sprue shots.

Has you can see there is some distortion in the clear parts. But in this scale I doubt you’ll see anything inside anyway.

Yes, given the age and scale they look surprisingly good.

A very interesting and different choice. I've never even seen one!

I have always had a soft spot for the HP42 and am looking forward to seeing this built. I last built one ten years ago as "Heracles" and just last week bought another one to make a camouflaged RAF version.

It would be nice to see it in the RAF camouflage Dave.

I've seen this kit on eBay a few times and thought it looked interesting. I've never seen it built though so this will be good to follow.
As has been said the sprue shots look far better than expected for an ancient kit in this scale.

Guess some of you guys have forgotten the one I built roughly ten years or so ago. Lovely kit but pay attention to the struts mating to the upper wing...real challenge there Ian.
However distorted the clear parts are, a bit of masking tape can look like curtains if applied properly. Plane goes together quite nicely but beware if step at the belly joint and the detail when joining the lower wing to the fuselage. Here's a pic of mine...after all these years I haven't stuck the exhaust pipes nor the decals either...

One thing I forgot to mention...doesn't the cockpit and nose section remind you of a B52 nose?

I found some 1/144 scale sailors which I will use for the crew and some passengers.
