What are your model related plans, hopes, resolutions, if any, for the new year? Just two or three things you would like to achieve. I'll start the ball rolling with mine.

No1 -I must try not to procrastinate - lovely word that. In my case it means stop over thinking things and get on and do.
No2 -Improve my weathering techniques. I tend to back off for fear of spoiling the work so far.

Happy New Year to all my fellow plastic cutters and glue sniffers.

I’m switching scales from 1/72 to 1/48 😊

I have been pretty much a 1/72 aircraft builder. Recently though I have become increasingly frustrated due to the kits either having scant detail or lots of detail which is fiddly to deal with and often isn’t really visible on the finished model 🙄

I also want to experiment with different weathering techniques and feel this will be better achieved on a larger scale models.

So a lot of the stash will be flogged off in the New Year (hopefully) 🤞

Geoff.

Sticking to my guns pretty much. 1/48 aircraft, 1/35 military vehicles, 1/24 cars, 1/12 bikes, and 28mm war games figures, whatever takes my fancy from those. Looking to move on some old figures I have though, and perhaps try a different paint range or gaming system. Not sure why I’m currently painting 20mm WW2 paras though LOL…. Aiming to get back into group builds if the mojo comes back as well.

I no longer make modelling plans as they never come to fruition. For example, this year I was determined to build at least four ships and I ending up not building a single one! One thing I can be sure of though, is that I will be trying to reduce my stash by half - leaving me with about 210 boxings/kits !!

Easy..... Same as last year which i failed misrably

Buy less, build more :D

Me too! Precisely!

I'm in a better position to do more in 2026, I got my modelling room, no excuse now!

Unpacking the stash has renewed my enthusiasm, lots of aircraft projects ready to go, to built as prototypes and experimental aircraft, and a generous sprinkling of 'what if' builds!

Some of you may remember my acquisition of lots of tank kits this year being engrossed the the world of 'Girls und Panzer' projekt!
The latest iteration 'moto love love sakusen desu' a is prequel playing in Japanese cinemas right now, it'll be a few months before it's reaches the rest of the world!
I have the tank kits, after market little crew figures and decals so I should get a few of those completed next year. . . hopefully!

Another thing, finish what I have on the go before starting something new!

Miko (hope springs eternal)

Procrastination seems to be a curse of the ardent modeller! When the planning stage take twice as long as the build time, stalling for tiny little seemingly insurmountable problems is a foible many of us share!

Procrastinate. - transitive verb - [latin] - 'delay until tomorrow'
Yep, sounds about right!

Need more shelving, wait, that means stopping modelling = shelving first, then modelling. Ah, procrastination 101 right there!

Do more with what I have, on other words stop buying bits and pieces I may need and only buy what I do need when I need it.

My goal is to actually get some modelling done. I failed miserably last year and lost my mojo big time.

I'm away until mid January but planning to start the year by participating (and completing) in a GB.

I might also finish one of my numerous uncompleted models.

Basically I want to get back into modelling.

I have a few shelf queens and hope to finish at least one of them. But 2026 doesnt look much better at the moment (dog, renovating plans etc) we'll see...

I had more time to devote to the hobby in 2025 than in any previous year so I'd just like to be able to continue in the same vein. I'd also like to see a net reduction in the stash in 2026 - didn't quite manage that this year.

well it will be a week or so before i get any work done on the uss hornet so WOULD ANYBODY LIKE TO SEE MY 1/32 SUPER TOMCAT BUILD WITH LIGHTS ?

My plans are to decorate the dining room - which means another display cabinet will fit into my modeling room - more display space = more building.
I know, it's a complicated process, but decorating here always is.

OK GUYS i'll start a build thread on the plane build as it will be a couple wks or so before i can show pics of the restarted uss hornet build
