Best I've seen so far from you Peter. :thumb2: He's got that worn out look. Have you changed your approuch for this bust? The colours chosen have worked a treat. Very nice indeed.

Cheers,
Richard

Really like it Peter.
Have you tried a different approach re. blending?
Contrast looks a lot softer which,I think, suits him.

Thanks for the kind words chaps (Ralph, you're a cheeky monkey)..

To answer Richard and Jon. I'm not aware of consciously changing my approach, though I have been slightly bolder lately with highlighting and blending it down into the mid-tones. I find that brighter colours also look softer, especially after endless amounts of field grey and khaki. I would also suggest that the sculpt lends itself to a softer approach - there a fluidity to Young B Song's work, with the folds flowing across the figure - everything is moving around the figure in the direction he's looking so that even the details of the face are slightly slanted that way.

Another thing is that I think I've learned my lesson and opt for better busts in future - a more realistic sculpt will give a more realistic finish.

Hi Peter
I have to agree with the other posts. He is superb and I love the colours chosen.

Thanks chaps. I'm humbled by your comments.

Richard - Nothing wrong with your busts matey; I enjoy painting them a lot.

Morning Peter

Your coloured surcoat seems to be a big hit, well done

A dragon to come too, should be a fun day all around with such good weather too.

Do you have many unused paints?, I do, LOL

Have a good day with the paints

Ricardo - Many thanks. His Saxon opponent next.

Mark - Many thanks. I suppose then that the leather could have a reddish colour, as here, or even be painted.

Neil, Ralph and Jack - Thank you.

I have done a little refining since the last set of pics:

The large photos always show up a few rough areas, so I've tried to iron those out. Quite a bit more was done to the shield, which was looking too dark. It really is finished now.
