Just had an Amazon delivery and the driver kindly mentioned a policy change.
In future they will leave any parcels in your designated safe place without attempting to knock/ring at the door.
This is to save time so they can give more drops to their drivers.
Be warned if you designate a safe place and the package gets stolen you have no recourse

If you delete the safe place instructions on your account they will then have to knock and if no answer try to call you for instructions.

I've never had the driver knock, but usually he'll text that he's dropped a pkg. on the front porch.

We usually have ours delivered to works reception, so never an issue, unless it’s after business hours, but we got something delivered to home the other day, it was a quick knock, drop it on the door step and get back in to van, I had to call him back and ask him to pick it up and leave it on the inside of the door as I couldn’t bend down to pick it up due to my op, he was very apologetic and did as he was asked, most would have just drove off

One reason why I always use a collection point wherever possible..... Then I don't have to be in...... Luckily I've got one 5 mins walk away from home

I've got mine set at no safe place and have a double door entry phone system,
but still have some deliveries left outside, which is just a parking area for the
four private apartments.
That said, I believe the Amazon system has a lot to be desired.

How will Amazon do a drone delivery to someone in a block of flats ? Lol.

When able to, parcels will be dropped from a height of 12 feet I have heard.

I ordered one and only kit from them that got delivered via the Amazon crush a kit system. Never again. It was not even packed and just had their label stuck straight onto the kit box for delivery

This thread may be going for sometime, I have even had a delivery in a black sack
with the label stuck on 😮🤐.

Not had much of a problem with Amazon delivery. The return system is another matter. Just had something delivered that was absolutely nothing like the item description. I requested return, and the usual system kicked in apparently without issue. Organised return with Royal Mail, all good, right up until they came to pick up. Royal Mail had not been instructed to print a label so couldn’t collect. Postie is good here, so she said, no worries, print it out and I’ll pick up tomorrow. I was unable to print a label myself, so went back to Amazon, and have been going through the “print label” “can’t print label” loop of doom for over a week now. Ridiculous to be honest. Never had an issue with it before.

The youngest daughter has all her amazon and other suppliers post delivered to my home address as she and her hubby work full time. Normally the drivers knocks at the door. As of Monday 25th Amazon changed its policy the drivers now give a light knock and leave to parcels outside the property in a safe place (to save on redelivery fees according to the amazon driver that left the parcel) (Lol lol) were on a main road and a school nearby..
Told her to get her parcels delivered to a in post delivery location, seems to be slightly cheaper than by amazon vans on most sized packages. So either she can pick it up on the way from work or I will pick it up after deliver to the local in post box.

Evri has even asked me to get a secure box fitted to the house (cheeky *************) .

I don’t think any of the delivery companies are reliable for home deliveries.

As my house opens onto the street if I use Amazon or Evri I have to get my parcel delivered to a pick up point otherwise it’s touch and go whether I get it.

Royal Mail used to be the best but even they have lowered their standards. The last parcel I had delivered was listed as delivered a week before it actually arrived 😮

Geoff.

I have to say that here in the wilds of Quebec I never cease to be amazed how Amazon is able to deliver stuff to me, usually only 1 or 2 days after ordering. In addition I live without any neighbours and in the complete countryside at the end of a cul de sac. They can leave my packages on my front deck and, they will still be there even if I don't pick them up for a few days.
