Spots on the Internet (2022)

In this image, how would the whizzo pull his top ejection handle, when his head is above the seat;
From an F4- Rio

Quote:

F-4 Phantoms have a Command Selector Valve in the RIO's Cockpit.
When stowed in the normal (vertical) position, the RIO ejects
separately if he initiates ejection. The position of the valve was
an item to be decided upon prior to flight.
Once experienced, we Navy RIO's always flew with it in the Command
(horizontal) position, so if we deemed it necessary to leave, the
front seat was going momentarily thereafter. Sometimes a pilot might
object, but most like me insisted that we also have command.

Not an object of discussion in the front seat. If he pulled the
plug, we RIO's always went 3/4 second ahead of him. It was a nice
option for pilots with student RIO's, and non-RIO's in the back seat,
but once crewed together in a squadron, I for one insisted that any
pilot trust my judgement too.

Not sure which seat is in above picture of phantom you showed , but this pic from a seat removed from a UK phantom has another activator handle between the legs.

I know I’ll be getting one — these were used in my area to land troops across the Western Scheldt at Vlissingen, so it shouldn’t be missing from my collection of locally used vehicles …

Funnily enough, I thought about this just the other day, when I realised I have two 1:76 scale LCA’s from Milicast that I never did build, so I was thinking to do those sometime soonish. Two days later, I see the 1:35 version that I was musing about, is going to come out :)

At least they existed, not like half the Paper Panzers that keep getting spewed out because they cant think of something else to make. Start with all the missed and wanted British armour, artillery and trucks.

On the Das Werk Facebook page - 'available late July'

....................another Paper Panzer - I find it difficult to raise any interest in these, but then again, I'm a grumpy old man!

Me too Dave, why would I want to build one of these? Unless I'm doing a sci fi dio.

Cheers,
Richard

I've just come across this on Etsy, advertised as Framed Deconstructed model kit

Modern day art for the modelling community by the looks of things. There are numerous once available but pricey at £120 plus. But I guess that's modern art for you.

It could be of some use if put into a time capsule so that in the 41st century some archaeologist will publish a book and give lectures on modelling in the 21st century.:smiling:

I’ve seen quite a few of these, and to be honest, I wonder if they ever sell? Seems a fairly easy way to make a few quid if they do. There must be at least 80 quid of profit there taking away material costs (being very generous) and the paint finish is pretty rudimentary.
